While we all approach our diets from different backgrounds and perspectives, the one thing that I feel everyone needs to be successful is the right mindset and overall attitude. In fact, I feel so strongly about this that I feel it’s the single biggest difference between those that reach their goal weight and those that don't. Let’s face it, this diet isn't easy and it’s definitely no fun having to face our eating demons. It’s bad enough that we can't eat, but at the same time, many of us also find that by eliminating food, we are also losing the one thing that has always provided a sense of comfort and security (food). So, if you have been feeling a little discouraged and down and feeling like the road ahead is a long one, try viewing your diet from a new perspective. Simply, view it as the opportunity of a lifetime. Next time you take a sip from the shake or chew on a celery stick while others are eating, don't feel bad...Feel proud!! Proud that you are taking on something that will give you back your self-confidence and will have people checking you out again. For me, whenever I felt down or felt like the road ahead was to long to manage, I would just remind myself of the following.... Now is the time to take a stand and start changing my life and each moment that I stay true to the diet is a step closer to my new life. So, if you have not already done so, and you are ready to be committed to your success, I think its time that you consider making a personal vow to yourself. Don't worry, no one will see you doing this, but by making a personal vow, it will only strengthen your commitment. So, whether you are at work, at home, sitting in traffic...Take a moment and make the following vow to yourself: "Today, I'm making a personal promise that nothing is going to stop me from reaching my goal weight and being successful on this diet. I understand that this is going to take sacrifice on my part, and on the part of my family, but now is the time to take back my life. I've waited long enough and have put my life on hold for far too long. I’m making this vow to stick to the journey that I have started. Congratulations to everyone for starting their journey and continuing along the path. Stay strong and understand that when you reach your goal weight, your life is going to change in some very amazing ways.
