There are a number of ways young people can give back to their communities and FLIP or Future Leaders in Philanthropy helps young people realize their potential in the area. Philanthropy focuses on love of humanity and public good focusing on quality of life and it is a path chosen by many. Often young people find it hard to access the right charity opportunity and now FLIP offers a program to young people in Gibraltar encouraging them to face up to their social responsibilities and become more involved in numerous charitable activities and Philanthropic giving.

rnThis fantastic program is a joint venture between Credit Suisse and Bonita Trust, two trusted companies focused on charitable giving; the project is aimed at sixteen to nineteen year olds in schooling in Gibraltar, which is a great age to become initially involved in charity to instill the important values for later life. Since its creation the Philanthropic foundation has given over £7.5 million to charitable giving programs worldwide.

rnThe Aims of the project are simple; To target future business leaders and professionals, raise awareness amongst talented students and make them aware of their social responsibilities, encourage involvement in charitable activities and giving and to educate young people about the workings of a successful charity. Overall the program shows the importance of charity work and how it can be a part of everybody’s lives and raises great community awareness .

rnApplication to the program is simple; you complete the application form and every year twenty students are selected and they will work within a team and individually on a number of projects focusing on how Philanthropic Giving can be a part of your personal and business life. The program normally runs through years 12 and 13 and year one of university, the work you do over the three years will vary greatly from research projects on your own virtual charity to learning the financial responsibilities in Charity business.

rnThroughout the project participants reap many rewards and benefits, from gaining greater community awareness and financial incentives and gifts throughout the project, to experienced coaching and management. FLIP participants will also fundraise at least £40,000 for local charities which will then be matched by Bonita Trust! So the work you do at FLIP can be truly rewarding helping you realize your potential and how Philanthropic giving can be an important part of the rest of your life. So if you want to raise community awareness in your society this project will really enhance and enrich your personal development.
