Make Every Day Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day should be every day in dating and relationships. Though it is nice that a day is set aside to celebrate love for someone, February 14 should not be the only day. As the song by the late Teena Marie says ‘365 is a year’ and that’s how much you should love your dear.

This does not mean that you should not do something special for one another on Valentine’s Day. And it does not mean that you have to shower each other with gifts every day. However, you should do something every day to show your love for one another. It can be the simplest of things like saying, ‘I love you.’ It can be going out to dinner or a night on the town. It can be flowers for her or a love note left in his coat pocket for him. It can be just spending time with one another which is one of the most precious ways to show love.

Valentine’s Day is 24 hours. You can only do so much in that amount of time. With 365 days the possibilities are endless. A creative mind can do so much more. It’s like being an artist with a blank canvas.

You don’t have to wait for holidays, birthdays and anniversaries to buy your loved one a gift. You can do this any time. Every day that you are given on earth is one in which you can buy that special gift. If you do this when they are not expecting anything their surprise will bring joy to both of you.

Another way to show your love is to make something for them. It could be a work of art like a painting, sculpture or poem. Or it could be remodeling a room in the house together. You could sew them a blanket or sweater. If you’re married and own a home there is always gardening and landscaping the yard. These are things that not only come from the heart, but have meaning which lasts long after Valentine’s Day.

You don’t have to spend money on someone to show your love. When two people truly care for one another it is the little things that mean the most.

A simple thing like letting your spouse sleep in on occasion can go a long way. You can fix them breakfast in bed or their favorite meal. The two of you can take a day off from work and just do something spontaneous like go for a picnic or walk in the park. If you are a woman let him know that you care for him, think of him and have absolute confidence in his abilities. If you are a man tell here that you care, you think of her and that she has your absolute faith. And never forget to tell her that she is beautiful.

Here is something that you can do that will show them that you really care. Ask their parents to dinner or a night out. It could be on Valentine’s Day or any other. We’ve all heard the in-law jokes. But if you show your mate that you care for their family it will go a long ways towards them loving you.

Being interested in the things that are important to your mate shows how much you care also. Take an interest in their hobbies. Listen to them when they talk about their job. Support them in their athletic and intellectual pursuits.
Above all else, the one thing that you have to do is tell your mate that you love them every day. Do not let one single day go by in a relationship that has grown without saying, ‘I love you.’

We take for granted that tomorrow is ours. It is not. So never think that you will get another chance to show or tell someone that you love them. And never think that you will have another Valentine’s Day to do it.

So go out and get those Valentine’s Day gifts, but don’t forget the other 364.
