“Nothing is happening!” I have been hearing this from so many entrepreneurs, from all parts of the country. My response right back is ‘What are YOU making happen?”
Success isn’t a magic pill. There is no magic wand. It is hard work, a daily effort, a full time job!
Here’s what I think is happening for many of you. Keep reading and see what applies to you.
1) Social Media. I keep hearing many of you say that you don’t want to get involved with social media. You’re stuck on what you heard about the early days with Facebook, for instance – and think to yourself that you don’t want to be spending the time reading about what other people are eating. Seriously! You’re not really engaged in the world of business if that’s what you still think and believe about social media. And here’s an insider tip for you – it’s NOT a FAD, and it’s not going away any time soon.
Social Media is one of THE most amazing tools for entrepreneurs who are serious about growing their business. Business is all about relationships and there is no better platform for this than using social media. Here’s the thing – YOU control the content. YOU control the connections. But YOU also need a strategy and perhaps even support in this area. I have a social media virtual assistant helping me with all of this – it’s not my area of expertise – nor do I want it to be. Get help. But get engaged. And do it now! Then you will see things happen – you will attract ideal clients – you will make money – and you can definitely make a difference using the top three – Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN. And it’s F.R.E.E., people!
For many of you who are on Facebook, for example, though – I know you are spending WAY TOO much time ‘checking in’! Stop that! Unless it’s part of your actual business plan to be in there, and engaged multiple times a day – stop it. I personally check in 3x a day, briefly, to maintain a connection and relationships. Otherwise, everything is automated and handled by my VA.
2) MONEY. Yes, I travel a lot on business. And yes, it takes a lot of money for the planes, trains, hotels, food, etc. But I didn’t start out that way a few years ago. I did most of my business in the local area – and you can, too. Stop comparing yourself to others who have been in business longer than you and who have created the cash flow to make these trips happen. Start local. I did it – I took my business to 6-figures by focusing on the local market. You can do this. Check out all activities within a 10-mile radius of your house. There’s lots going on – you’re just not paying attention! You can attend many events for free – network up a storm – follow up and develop very strong relationships and attract many new clients, right under your nose! So, when you start telling yourself that ‘nothing is happening’ because you don’t have the money to go places and learn things – change your thinking. There are many experts (like me!!!) right in your own backyard – who are offering great events that you can attend and learn all that you need to grow your own business and make lots of money! Your attitude might be getting in your way – or your belief system that you need to travel far and wide to get what you want. NO! NOT TRUE! I do it because I am sourcing the best experts I can for what I want for my business – I am fast tracking, intentionally. And I bring back the best of the best for my own local clients. So, start making things happen in your own backyard.
3) GUIDANCE. Nothing is happening in your business because you don’t have a plan – you’re still working as a lone ranger – you have no idea what to do next to ‘make things happen’. Every successful person is working with a guide, with a mentor, with a coach. Why aren’t you? And stop with the money excuse – stop hiding behind that one. We all have money for what we really want. A few years ago, when I re-launched my business, I rubbed together my credit cards and made things happen. I did it. ME. No one else. I hired the best coaches and did the work – and LOTS of great things started happening. It’s about momentum – and taking action – and progress, not perfection.
I get very frustrated when I hear you saying ‘nothing is happening’. Honestly, there is so much information out there these days to help you grow your business, attract ideal clients and make all the money you want.
But you are compromising each and every day when it comes to doing what it takes! I suspect you are not clear on your vision – you are not excited about your business – you’ve developed the habit of making excuses – you don’t have a plan for each and every day – and you have no cheerleaders! These are some of the basic elements to success. And it’s all within your reach.
You have got to take action – that’s the only way that ‘something is going to happen’!
