Make the Second Half of Your Life Matter More

As baby boomers, (myself included) many of you have become more focused upon a desire to create more ease and meaning in your lives.
This is a new game as you approach your retirement years.
A game that includes self-care, indulging your interests and passions.
How, exactly, can you do that if this is new and unchartered territory?

1- Make a list of what you Don’t Want to experience/feel in major areas of your life such as work, nrelationships, finances, health and fitness or recreation.
For example, perhaps you don’t want to feel overworked, bored and unchallenged, out of shape, financially strapped in your retirement years or socially alienated.

Look for the places where these negative thoughts and feelings occur.
Where do your ‘don’t wants’ reside?
What do you worry about? What do you complain about?
How often?
Are you living with regrets? Fear of the future?
What are your beliefs about your ability to change the situation you don’t want?
Why don’t you have what you want now?

Identify the current beliefs that are stopping you from getting what you want.
Do you feel you can’t do something? Shouldn’t? Don’t know how? Someone won’t let you?
These are merely habits of thought.
Well-wo
neurological/neurochemical reactions.

The more frequently you’ve engaged in any thought or behavior, the stronger the neuro connections in the brain have become and you continue to repeat the thought or behavior, even if you’re attempting to change it.
Like a well-wo
walking path, the more it’s used, the deeper it gets and the more difficult it is to restore to its original surface.

If you want things to be different than they are, you must create a shift in the faulty belief.
You must retrain your mind to create new neuro pathways.
You must break the existing bonds and form new, more effective links that reinforce positive expectation, joy, gratitude, success.
This takes practice just as it takes time to create that new walking path.

2-What DO you want? Why?
You want ANYTHING because of how you’ll FEEL when you get it. NO exceptions.

Once you’ve assigned a feeling state to your desire, you have to consistently match that in order to create your new pathways. You match the vibration of what you desire.

For example, you want to be more financially prosperous. Why? Bottom line might be to experience feelings like freedom and joy to engage in things that allow for personal expansion, to give freely of yourself to family, friends and community.
You must shift your focus of attention (thoughts and feelings) and behavior (actions) to activate those feelings of freedom and joy in your daily experiences.

Practice spending more time in these states and less time in the don’t want states.
Do things that are fun, that make you feel free and joyful or peaceful.

As a result of these inner shifts in thought, your brain/body chemistry actually changes on a cellular level and your energetic vibration moves upward a notch at a time. You then become closer to the vibrational frequency of what you desire in your life. n
You can always tell if the process is working by noticing what is showing up.
Identify what is working, what is showing up that you love.
Maintain focus of attention there. Replay those moments.
Do more of those things.
Notice what isn’t quite right and continue tweaking.
Remain in positive expectation of what is to come.

Most of all, maintain an attitude of gratitude.

What can you do to BE joyful or playful today?
