After I came back from Spain, people became more curious to know about the place in detail. Questions like, what are the best things to eat and what's the best time to visit? Though I have provided travel tips for several destinations, never touched Spain. It would be a good thing to dig into this stupendous country to make travel to Spain easier. Which is the best time to visit Spain? May and June are unbearably hot in Spain. Southern Spain sizzles with heat whereas, the northern hilly area tends to be more pleasant with frequent rains. November welcomes winter and people get into their overcoats and boots. If you are travelling towards Granada, Andalusia, Jaen, Huelva, Almeria or even Barcelona with cheap Barcelona holidays, make sure you travel from September to November. The summer crowd fades away and autumn enlivens the atmosphere. You can visit the northern Spain during the summer months of May and July. Help me in my packing! Now that's confusing but easy to answer depending which part of Spain you are travelling to. If you are travelling towards southern Spain during summers, better pack summer wear and sunblock. Anyone planning to head north, carry an umbrella and some warm clothes. Be aware, that Arturia's experiences year-round downpours. Spain: Expensive or Affordable? I always thought Spain would be expensive compared to France, Austria, Italy and Germany. I was wrong! A nice meal at a small restaurant would cost you 4-5 Euros for one person and dining in a fine dig might cost you 15-20 Euros. Spain is renowned for its tapas bars and they are quite cheap. You can bag free tapas with a delicious drink during the happy hours. Commuting is quite cheap. The public transportation in Spain is cheaper than a few European countries. Accommodation depends on the kind of thing you are looking for. A good deal can go up to 40-45 Euros per night for a double. Generally, 100 Euros for two people is quite comfortable. It may include hotel stay, eating and drinking, moving around with a public transport. Did anyone say Spanish food? Let's begin with this - Firstly, rice and wheat in Spain are not stapled diets. These are Sunday delicacies only. Secondly, vegetarians please carry your own food, and thirdly, drooling is a lifestyle here. So, be ready!rnSpain is tough on the vegetarians. The locals relish their meaty dishes for every meal. Vegetarians need not fret. You can customize your meal and enjoy it to the full. Spain is not all meaty. Some must-try vegetarian dishes are: • Zanahorian Alinadas – marinated carrotsrn• Tortilla De Patata – potato omelettern• Calamares Del Campo – fried vegetablesrn• Gazpacho – cold tomato and vegetable pureern• Espinacas Con Garbanzos – spinach and chickpeasrn• Croquetas – a mishmash of fried foodrn• Berenjenas Fritas – fried eggplantrn• Pisto Con Huevo – roasted vegetablesrn• Ajo Blanco – chilled almond soup Cities such as Seville, Cordoba and Barcelona do serve Mexican, American, Italian and traditional European dishes. You can easily find a sandwich, burger or a hot-dog shop. Moreover, in other Spanish towns, omelette, tomatoes and eggs rule. Fish, chicken and mutton are sold like hot cakes. No wonder Spanish cuisine has the power to excite your taste buds. Do not leave Spain without trying: • Tortilla Españolarn• Gambas al ajillorn• Tostas de Tomate y jamón • Patatas bravasrn• Cochinillo Asado Where can I be in Spain? Unlike my other excursions, I wanted to take in Spain slowly, enjoying the urban as well as the suburbs; capturing the expansive olive fields, quaint villages and the spectacular countryside. Picking up a bit of Spanish was a child's play. Spain, to me, was, awe-inspiring. Loved being soaked in the ecstatic autumn, being a part of Flamenco music, lengthy lunches and a lot more. My plan was relaxed and flexible, en-route for Madrid with cheap holidays to Madrid that I managed to book just in time. Other spots in my list included Barcelona, Granada, Andalusia, Jaen, Huelva, Almeria and a few others. Visiting Tenerife on the Canary Islands is dreams come true for many. Explore a dormant volcano, experience Carnaval de Santa Cruz and several beaches with black or yellow sands. Right from May to August there's so much to do in Tenerife. Your cheap Tenerife holidays will never be the same. Summary Overall, Spain offers you a wonderful amalgam of colours, culture, tradition, food and lifestyle.
