Trade show booths require planning in order to be effective. But before you start planning your trade show displays, you need an understanding of the most effective ways to utilize trade show space.
A pop-up display can be a great tool in trade show booths because they can give important information on a subject, and then be conveniently stored out of the way. When you are planning the layout of your trade show displays, plan on using these kinds of tools to maximize the productivity in your space.
To get the most from your rented trade show space, you need to turn it into a mobile office. Your booth becomes a miniature representation of your office facilities, which will allow you to be more efficient during the show. To start, you need to break up your booth into working segments. One area needs to be for greeting customers, another area is for functional displays, a third area is for customer consultation and the final segment is for booth maintenance.
A pop-up display will guide attendees to your customer reception area. This is where your sales people will congregate as they wait for guests to arrive. Trade show booths need to have a wide-open reception area where potential clients can feel comfortable and be able to speak to your representatives.
After a customer is greeted in the reception area, she is moved to the trade show displays for a hands-on demonstration of the products. This is where customers can utilize the pop-up display you have at each product station to become familiar with your products while you demonstrate product features.
If the client seems interested in a product, or several products, then she is moved to the consultation area where there are tables, chairs and literature packages. This is where your sales personnel can pursue a sale, get the customer more information or take the prospect's contact information so she can be called when the trade show is over.
The maintenance area is found either behind the main booth display or in an out of the way corner of the booth. This is where product display supplies are kept, tools for product repair and back-up displays are kept, if the company is able to provide them. A trade show presence is diminished if the product on display does not work. It is essential to keep the hands-on displays operating throughout the entire show.
The flow of the booth from customer reception to the consultation area needs to be smooth. Sales people who are trying to close a sale do not need to be disturbed by the laughing going on in the reception area. Even smaller booths can be set up to maximize the flow of traffic and minimize interruptions. Plan ahead and maximize the space and time you will have at the next trade show.
