Not everyone can stand to join up with an extracurricular activity in their school. They may seem doing these sorts of activities as uncool, or lazy, or simply not what they are looking for. But for many, joining up with a committee at school that will be working to a likened goal is a great way to branch out and really get to know one's class mates. After all, everyone seems to be in the same boat in high school, but many are not mature enough to admit such a fact and really make it through their day without relying on a small friend base, or dealing with their solitude all on their own. If you enter onto a sports team, for example, everyone becomes a family that has to practice and work hard together each and every day in order to get to a shared goal. Each person on the team has their position and our responsible for making sure their position fits well into the system they are operating in. However, not everyone actually enjoys the work of a sports team, and so finding refuge in an extracurricular is a positive way to create the same environment at the high school age. One example of an after school project one can get involved in is the making of high school yearbooks.

Yearbooks actually come with a great deal of responsibility that people do not realize.

The work involved does not happen ove
ight, either.

The making of yearbooks is an ongoing process throughout the entire year and it comes with many duties split among students.

To begin, students need to come up with all the photos that are going to be brought into the yearbook for that given school year. This, unfortunately, does not mean that the students only have to coordinate with the main office about the student photos taken, but that they will have to gather pictures from major school events: proms, sports games, band performances, theater productions, and after school clubs. The yearbook committee must get visible photos and work to include all groups.

Once all the photos are put together, one has to spend a lot of time working to get the photos in a readable order in the layout design process. Here they will need to make sure that the yearbook is put together in a nice clean style that runs through the entire publication.

Outside responsibilities one must include in the committee's time is the gathering of funds from local investors who will make the cost of publishing the yearbook free for all students. This means finding the best price for printing costs as well as getting together the funds necessary.

You may now be able to tell that the creation of these yearbooks is no shot in the dark, but requires the same intense efforts as a sports team does. This means relationships and bonding will no doubt form between a lot of students one may not have considered in previous months and years.
