Trade shows are an excellent way of taking your brand to a live and in most cases a targeted audience. In addition to that, trade shows also prove to be great venues to learn about the latest trends in your market and give you an opportunity to network with industry leaders. Who knows, you just might end up finding a potential business partner or even an investor for your business! The downside of-course is the fact that it takes a whole lot of money and employee time. But believe it or not that the benefits far out-weight down sides. Here are a few tips that will help you make the most out of a trade show event: 1.) Plan Ahead: The best way to get the max out of a trade show event is to plan well in advance. Start by jotting down what your goals are. Send out emails or postcards to clients and media who will be attending the event. Invest a lot of time thinking over marketing materials to use as these are powerful brand promoters. 2.) Go for Rental Equipment: The best way to save money is to use rental trade show equipment. Rentals will cost you almost 50% to 60% less as compared to buying the display/exhibit. The best part is that they work as good as a display for which you have paid in whole. Shop around for rentals and try to find the best deal. Most rental companies offer transportation, storage and installation of equipment as part of the service; so lookout for these companies. The internet is the best place to start your research. 3.) Choose Your Booth Location Carefully: Choose a location where people would generally flock to, like for instance near to a water cooler. Look around the venue and you are sure to find many such golden spots. 4.) Be Active During the Event: Sitting behind the exhibit booth is not going to help. People will think you are not interested and will simply walk by. So send in the right signals by welcoming people. A simple smile can do wonders. You can also consider designating people to walk around and invite people to your company's booth. Finally make sure that you are courteous to everyone who visits your booth. 5.) Keep Your Cool At All Times: As with everything else, here again there will be people who will try to discourage you by saying that your business idea does not make sense or that your start-up will never succeed. Don’t get into a debate with them as this will not serve you any good. Just take their cards and give a polite smile. 6.) Do Attend the Social Events: After event parties are a great way to network with clients as well as related businesses in a more open manner. This is a great way to go forward on agreements and even find new business partners and investors. So make sure to attend these parties no matter how tired you are. But don’t get too much into the party mood as that could ruin things. As you participate in new trade show events, you are sure to pick up new marketing ideas that will help you do better and better in the events to follow. Good luck with your new business and your promotion efforts!
