Although you might not expect it, bullying within the workplace is sadly alive and well. More emphasis is now being put upon mediation and conflict resolution in order to reduce the number of harassment cases seen in the workplace. If you're having trouble with office disputes, but are sceptical about workplace mediation and resolution conflict, then here are 7 great reasons to consider the use of a workplace mediation service.

Third Party Advicer
Often healthy discussions in the office can deteriorate into arguments. Sometimes it can be difficult to see the point of view of both parties involved, which is where an independent mediator can come in to help. Independent mediators do not attempt to direct discussion to where they think it should go, but instead they help both parties to come to some sort of agreement themselves. Everything that is said in a meeting with an independent mediator is completely confidential, creating a feeling of trust within the office.

Learning Not Lecturingr
Independent mediators do not claim to have all the answers to your business conce
s. Instead, they are able to allow the parties involved to develop a healthy working relationship. This creates an environment that will ultimately be beneficial for everyone in the office.

Good for Businessr
It's no secret that good working relationships are key to running a successful business. When relationships begin to break down, the whole office can suffer. Often arguments can escalate to a level where everybody in the office becomes affected both professionally and emotionally. Bringing in an independent mediator is good business sense.

Save Time & Moneyr
If the conflict is stopping your business from moving forward, then you are more than likely losing out on revenue. Independent mediators often only need one meeting in order to resolve conflicts.

Looking Forwardr
Business is always going to be future focussed, which is why workplace mediation is too. Looking to the past is useful to a certain extent, in order to learn from our mistakes; however there is no use in dwelling on what has already happened. Looking backwards encourages blame, which is not what a mediator wishes to do.

Stay Out of Courtr
Employment courts are always busy, and if a conflict can be handled without going to court, time and money will be saved.

New Skills

Workplace mediation services often offer training courses as well as independent mediators. These courses can equip you with the skills you need to help you handle conflicts in the future.

Even though it's still a relatively new concept, there is no reason to be sceptical about workplace mediation. None of us want to be faced with conflict at work, but when it does happen there is an effective solution at hand.
