Harbor Medical Associates named to the "Physician Group Honor Roll". Harbor Medical Associates, as part of the SSPHO, has been named to the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s 2011 “Physician Group Honor Roll”, in recognition of their physician’s outstanding commitment to high quality care. rnThe Physician Group Honor Roll highlights adult and pediatric physician groups that have achieved exceptional results in their approach to disease prevention and the treatment of acute and chronic illness. Harvard Pilgrim selected the Honor Roll physician groups based on clinical performance measured against national HEDIS quality benchmarks, as reported by NCQA. Harvard Pilgrim reviewed performance in three domains of clinical care affecting both adult and pediatric patients: acute, chronic, and preventive care. CAP - College of American Pathologists - CAP accreditation is the “gold standard” by which quality laboratories are measured in the United States and world-wide. CAP accreditation involves a rigorous inspection, self-inspection and on-going surveillance process whereby the quality of laboratory testing is maintained and improved. One aspect of surveillance is proficiency testing, whereby the laboratory, on a regular basis throughout the year, receives unknown specimens from two proficiency testing services (CAP and the Wisconsin State Laboratory for Hygiene). This process essentially challenges the lab to assure accurate and precise testing. The results we generate are compiled and compared to those from labs across the country, and we are graded against our peers. The laboratory has maintained successful proficiency testing records and accreditation status since receiving initial CAP accreditation in 2009. The laboratory is classified as a “high-complexity” laboratory under the provisions of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA 88).
