When marketing your business online you are facing fierce competition simply because the internet environment is global in nature! It therefore makes sense to work smarter than your competition and this can be done by building an email opt in list! Now how the hell does taking the time and investing the EXTRA effort to build a mailing list help you work smarter? In the case of marketers who blog, it's not like they have a lot of spare time since writing content can be a full-time job! Here are 3 reasons that should answer the questions of any skeptics questioning the 'logic' behind this strategy! Gives You a 2nd Chance When visitors land on your site the chances are nil or none that they'll return due to all the other blogs to read online! Plain and simple folks have a limitless option of choices to find information that addresses their interests! Search engines make this even easier! Getting their contact information in an effort to build a mailing list allows you to 'reconnect' with these people and from that point it's up to you where it goes! It should be noted here that by contacting people through email allows you to 'dodge' the noise and clutter the internet environment offers! Allows You to 'Win Over' the Skeptical Relationship building by offering free and useful information and/or advice tends to 'break the ice' with even the most skeptical! Your contact with those on your email opt in list should focus on earning their trust, developing comfortable relationships and therefore breaking down any barriers of resistance! By doing so they are less incline to ignore but rather be more receptive to your product suggestions! Rekindle Their Interests The opportunity is there for you to reignite a visitors interest in what you may have to offer by sending them tempting offers! Of course this works more effectively AFTER you've earned their trust and built a little credibility along the way! It's amazing how far a little 'authority' goes towards influencing people to make a purchase! It is not at all uncommon for people to lose the interest they had when they first landed on your blog, after all who wouldn't with all the great content to distract them? On the other hand when you build a mailing list you can now communicate DIRECTLY with people thus avoiding the distracting internet environment! Marketing your business online can be very tough to do since you're competing with an internet environment which is GLOBAL in scope! Boy, it doesn't get anymore competitive than that! On the other hand, even as a blogger, you can dramatically increase your competitive edge and marketing effectiveness by building an email opt in list! Yeah I know bloggers have to spend a ton of time writing content however if you build a mailing list your efforts can be used more effectively! The 3 reasons cited above hopefully dispel any question that, even for bloggers, investing the time to build a mailing list does pay dividends! What's your opinion?
