Matthew Davies Presents the Best Places to go Scuba Diving
Introduction
Scuba diving can make you feel alive. It is an experience that cannot be compared or contrasted. It can only be perceived on an ethereal, mystical, and spiritual realm. For a long time, I wanted to go on a scuba diving adventure as the idea seemed so mesmerizing. However, I was also a little scared and just couldn't bring myself to do it. So, two weeks ago, my friend, Matthew Davies, literally forced me to go on a scuba diving trip with him.
It was a lot of fun and thrilling at the same time. In fact, it as a privilege to swim with the creatures of the deep.
Locations
In this article, I’m going to share some of the best diving spots around the globe.
- Galapagos Islands - Have you ever dreamed of the perfect place, a figment of your imagination, privy only to you and for you? If it's underwater than it’s the Galapagos and if it’s not, try imagining underwater and it will transform into the Galapagos.
Penguins, sharks, iguanas, eagle rays, volcanoes, you name it and it’s there for your visual pleasure.
The Galapagos is considered an internationally acclaimed dive site and for good reason. Here is a list of the most popular scuba dive sites:
- Roca Redonda, Isabela Island - This is actually the tip of a volcano.
- El Arco, Darwin Island - Hammerheads, whale sharks and lots of other sharks.
- Cape Douglas, Fernandina Island - Penguins, need I say any more?
- Australia - You know, the Aussies aren’t all kangaroos and giant spiders. The continent houses the world’s largest coral reef system and over 1500 species of sharks, fish, giant sea turtles and porpoises.
Mere words aren’t enough to describe the beautiful depths of the Australian oceans. The main diving spots are as follows -
- Ribbon Reefs, Northern Great Barrier Reef - World’s largest coral reef containing over 3000 individual coral cays and reef systems
- Osprey Reef -Shark feeding spot with a pinch of manta rays
- SS Yongala - A shipwreck that went down in a cyclone in 1911
- Indonesia - Indonesia houses the world’s longest coastline. Indonesia is a mixed bag of goodies. You get little of everything such as coral reefs, sunken wrecks, deep water trenches, underwater volcanic mountains, and other stuff.
It’s a great place to explore and discover, you never know what you could find here. Key diving locations include:
- Jakarta - Shipwrecks and sand beaches, the full pirate experience
- Bunaken - Diverse marine and life and crystal-blue water
- Lembeh - Unique and rare collection of marine life
- The Maldives - The Maldives is a classic option when it comes to scuba diving. It’s a great place to start if you’re new to this.
It also has quite the diversity, such as bull sharks, manta rays, sea turtles and also corals. It is also the only home for the majestic manta rays.
Key diving spots include:
- Fotteyo Kandu, Vaavu Atoll - Different layers, top ones containing coral and increasing number of marine life as you go deeper
- Kuredu Express, Lhaviyani Atoll - More sharks with stingrays and tunas joining the party
Conclusion
The world beneath is a different realm. I got to experience it only because of my friend, Matthew Davies. Similarly, you can go on dive with your friends if you are uneasy. Every dive offers a new and invigorating experience. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime. So, you must take it the moment you have the chance.
