MEDICAL RENAISSANCE--THE SECRET CODE --A documentary
The Film:
Conventional medicine has failed them; they’ve tried almost everything Western Medicine has to offer. Migraine headache and depression hold the lives of three patients’ hostage.
For ninety minutes, viewers will see how holistic principles and tools significantly change the lives of these patients, ease pain and suffering and improve quality of life- safely & effectively!
Can the lives of these patients be rescued? Take the journey with them and discover a new approach to health. Father of Holistic Medicine and Founder of the American Holistic Medical Association, Dr. Norm Shealy takes a brilliant and intuitive approach to healing- with long lasting results.
The Secret Code also features interviews with internationally and nationally known holistic experts- all together for the first time. And five patients treated with this approach earlier demonstrate the lasting benefit of the holistic approach, with results lasting up to eleven years and beyond. The other patients shown had been successfully treated for migraine, depression, ADHD, obesity, depression, and insomnia.

The Patients
Prior to filming The Secret Code, Dr. Shealy and Paul Katona (the director) screened approximately 30 possible volunteer patients to undergo holistic treatment for either migraine headaches or depression. Three were ultimately chosen.
Each patient’s story is 100% real. No element having to do with their lives or their illnesses were embellished. Their participation was completely voluntary and without monetary compensation.

The ExpertsnC. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D. is actually a classically-trained neurosurgeon. After medical school at Duke University, he trained at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 1978, Dr. Shealy was instrumental in creating The American Holistic Medical Association, which continues to emphasize the spiritual component of healing. In 1973, recognizing the need to incorporate spirituality into Western Medicine, he founded, with Reverend Henry Rucker, The Science of Mind Church of Chicago. It became the International Science of Mind Church for Spiritual Healing. From this sprang Holos University Graduate Seminary, which offers masters and doctoral programs in Spiritual Healing and Energy Medicine.
In 1971 he founded the first comprehensive, holistic clinic for management of pain and stress management. The Shealy Institute became the most successful and most cost-effective pain clinic in the U.S, with 85% success in over 30,000 patients. The Shealy protocols for management of depression, migraine, fibromyalgia and back pain are increasingly being integrated into hospitals and individual practices.
Dr. Shealy holds 10 patents for innovative discoveries, has published over 300 articles and 25 books, the latest of which are LIFE BEYOND 100—SECRETS OF THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH; SOUL MEDICINE, and PONY WISDOM FOR THE SOUL. www.normshealy.com.nBelleruth Naparstek, LISW. is a classically trained psychotherapist. Chardy Shealy, R.N., Ph.D has a deep understanding of both humans and horses. She has a background in nursing and a Ph.D. in Health Communications. She is the co-owner and manager of Brindabella Farms where she breeds and trains Appaloosa horses. And she is founder and director of the Success-Centered Riding/Training Workshops (SCRT), a program that offers intense 1-2 week equestrian workshops for adults.
Chardy combines subtle communication with the horse and practical approaches to working in collaboration with our equine friends. She understands that when the rider is tense, the horse is tense. And just as the mood and attitude of the human affect the horse, the horse can affect the human. The horse can "unmask" the human and lead to self-discovery, an inward bound journey.
Chardy knows about the positive relationships that can result between humans and animals. She knows that a puppy can offer companionship in an old folk's home just as our own pets offer us love in our homes. She demonstrates that a good relationship between a horse and a human can offer health and comfort to both the human and the horse. www.brindabellafarms.com

1. The United States ranks 37th in Health Care according to the World Health Organization. Conventional medical costs continue to skyrocket, and the medical system is now far more expensive than the average American can afford, with decreasing health benefits.
2. Only 3% of Americans have the top four essential habits for optimal health: no smoking, healthy body mass index of 18.-24, eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables, exercise 30 minutes or more 3-5 times per week. (Lifestyle Characteristics Among Adults in the United States 2000, Archives of Internal Medicine,2005, Issue 165, pp. 854-857, Matthew J. Reeves, PhD. )
3. At least 85% of all illnesses are the result of habits and lifestyle, (Dr. John Knowles, DAEDALUS, John Knowles, President, Rockefeller Foundation, Winter, 1977)
4. Medical costs have continued to rise, and are rapidly approaching 17% of GNP, compared with 4.5% in 1965, and as a nation we have become less healthy. (New York Times, March 19, 2008)
5. The journal of the American Medical Association reported that the leading cause of illness and premature death are: obesity, smoking and medical treatment (The journal of the American Medical Association, July, 2000) Pharmaceutical drugs kill each year at least 185, 815 people, are responsible for 28% of hospitalizations and thus contribute to 8.8 million hospital admissions each year! (American Medical News. January 15, 1996. Page 11)
6. With over 15 million diabetics in the U.S, and increasing at close to a million a year, at least 200,000 Americans die of complications of diabetes each year. (DR. BERNSTEIN'S DIABETES SOLUTION-Revised and Updated. The Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars. Little Brown and Co., New York)
7. In addition to the 45 million uninsured adults in the United States, another 16 million adults were underinsured in 2003, meaning their insurance did not adequately protect them against catastrophic health care expenses, finds a study in Health Affairs.
8. An estimated total of 61 million adults, or 35 percent of individuals, ages 19 to 64, had either no insurance, sporadic coverage, or insurance coverage that exposed them to high disease care costs during 2003. ("Insured But Not Protected: How Many Adults Are Underinsured?" Health Affairs Web Exclusive, June 14, 2005).
9. A 2002 survey of US adults 18 years and older conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (CDC) the National Center for Complementary and Alte
ative Medicine indicated:na. 74.6% had used some form of complementary and alte
ative medicine (CAM).nb. 62.1% had done so within the preceding twelve months.nc. 54.9% used CAM in conjunction with conventional medicine.nd. Most people used CAM to treat and/or prevent musculoskeletal conditions or other conditions associated with chronic or recurring pain.ne. The most commo
CAM therapies used in the U.S. in 2002 were prayer (45.2%), herbalism (18.9%), breathing meditation (11.6%), meditation (7.6%), chiropractic medicine (7.5%), yoga (5.1%), body work (5.0%), diet-based therapy (3.5%), progressive relaxation (3.0%), mega-vitamin therapy (2.8%) and Visualization (2.1%)
10. Overall, the survey revealed that CAM use was greater among a variety of population groups, including women; people with higher education; those who had been hospitalized within the past year; and former smokers, compared to current smokers or those who had never smoked.
