Carprofen is a prescription medicine which belong to that group of drugs known as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Other drugs which belong to same class of drug are Orudis (ketoprofen), Aleve (Naproxen), Advil (Ibuprofen), Aspirin, Vioxx (rofecoxib) and Celebrex (celecoxib). This medication is used to provide relief from pain and inflammation in dogs. Carprofen generic is used for the treatment of arthritis in dogs. Carprofen is the generic form of Rimadyl and Rimadyl is the brand. It is available in tablets as well as in injection form. This medication can be used for other medical conditions as suggested and advised by the health care professionals.

Does Carprofen medicine interact with other drugs?
All those drugs that belong to the NSAIDs category of drugs, recommended that these drugs should nou be use with eachother concurrently as it may cause serious side effects. Carprofen Generic should not be used with other drugs like dexamethasone, prednison etc (corticosteroid hormones). At leat 5 to 7 days rest should be taken when you are changing from one NSAID to carprofen or from carprofen to some other NSAID and about 10 to 14 days rest period is required if you are switching to Asprin, and switching from carprofen to prednisone require 1 week of rest period.
