Memories in my Mother's Garden

rnThe sweet peas fill the air with their delicate fragrance—rnthe colors in mauve, purple, pink and even red.rnThe bouquet on my kitchen window sill, brings memoriesrnof childhood. My Mother always planted the sweet pea seeds carefullyrnunder the breakfast room window. rnI remember eating Rice Crispie's with sliced strawberriesrnfrom the garden—mingled with the sweet smell of the flowers. The favorite flowers of those days have resurfaced—rnCalla Lilies, Iris, cannas, roses, geraniums, gladiolas,rnand lavender, mixed in withrnoh, so many fragrant flowers and herbs—rnWe all have our favorites—tulips, carnations, mums, and poppies. The garden is a brilliant carpet of color stretching underrnthe canopy of towering trees.rnI catch my breath, as I feel like I am peering into the Land of OZ.
