The best course of action would be to stop these problems before they get a chance to develop, so train your puppy to be docile and meet your expectation with persistent bolstering when they behave correctly. A common training problem that occurs is how to stop dog chasing, as this can be hazardous to the dog and person. You might try any one of many techniques to discourage your dog from chasing things. No matter what method you choose to use to stop dog chasing you need to be consistent to get your message across. How to Best Prevent Your Dog from Engaging in Chasing Behavior. One method you could use to stop dog chasing would be to disallow any outdoor time for the dog without proper supervision or a leash. Dogs that are allowed to run loose are a danger to themselves and others as they frequently stray too close to roadways. This should never be allowed. Regardless of where you reside, be it rural with little traffic or the suburbs, you should train your dog to remain within the yard, in order to prevent any potential accidents that could be caused by the dog chasing. Yard training also keeps dogs from chasing individuals that come hear his turf. Letting your dog chase either a person, car, or another animal is highly dangerous and should never be allowed. Not only is it hazardous to all parties involved, it may also foster aggressive behaviors in the dog, and this is not something that any owner wants in a family pet. When a dog is playing and chasing his master, he ought not to offer their pet any form of approval or reinforcement for that conduct. Although playing with a dog is a time for fun, it results in the dog having increased aggression and a tendency to chase others more, which is definitely something the dog owner doesn't want in his home. The best method an owner could use to stop dog chasing would be to refrain from fleeing the dog as he attempts to play with them. When the dog is behaving this way, the owner needs to turn away from their dog and deny giving him any kind of attention. Once the dog finally calms himself down, the dog owner should then offer the dog attention and commendation for his behavior. Alternatively, a dog owner could command his dog to sit to help bolster proper behavior and stop dog chasing whenever he acts up. If the dog does sit, proceed to praise him or her, thereby positively reinforcing the correct behavior. Learn more at: how to stop a dog biting Stop Dog Chasing
