This stands as one of the most eminent Tibetan Buddhism monasteries of the state located on a hill. Rumtek Monastery became constructed by the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje. Enchey Monasteryr
This monastery was built in 1901 on a hill. It was located 3 km from Gangtok, and was at the site which was blessed by Lama Druptab Karpo, the famous Tantrik of that time. Lord Buddha, Loki Sharia and Guru Padmasambhava are worshipped here.
Tashiding Monasteryr
This monastery is an important monastery of Sikkim, set in picturesque location between rivers against the backdrop of Kanchanjunga. Tashiding Monastery was built by Ngadak Sempa Chembo in the year of 1717. This has a holy stone jar that remains always full with sacred water. Devotees come here from different parts of the country to take in the holy water. The monastery appears believed to relive the person from bad karma, after a view to the sacred Chorten (stupa) inside the monastery.
