We lived close to San Francisco while my husband was going to school. We found that there are many attractions and fun things to do San Francisco. It is a popular city for those who live there and those who are visiting. With so much to do and see I guarantee you will never get tired of it! Throughout the world San Francisco is a very popular place, located in northern California on the Pacific Coast. The city itself is on a peninsula that along the west side of the San Francisco Bay. To the north of San Francisco you will see the Golden Gate Bridge, which connects San Francisco to Marin over a narrow stretch of seawater. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most photographed sights in the world since its opening in 1937. Transportation to, over, and under the bridge include walking, biking, or boating. Many photographs have been taken of it from on land. Be sure not to miss The Golden Gate Bridge as one of the favorite things to do San Francisco. When you visit China town it will be another fun thing to do San Francisco. Many people from Asia moved to the San Francisco Bay area about 100 years ago. Located downtown, Chinatown has lots of great restaurants and "schlock shops". As you walk down the street in Chinatown you will feel like you have stepped into a different world. The culture is as real if you were visiting another country. Be sure to visit San Francisco's two large parks: Golden Gate Park and the Presidio. The Golden Gate Park is quite beautiful and open for visitors. Some of the roads through the park are closed off for bikers and roller skaters to use. The Presidio is a park filled with Eucalyptus trees. Until a few years ago, the Presidio was an army base - now it's a national historic park. For some of the best views of the bay area, cross over the bay to Sausalito, a beautiful village. Muir Woods National Monument is close by where you can see the world famous Giant Redwood trees. Alcatraz, also known as "The Rock" is an interesting thing to do San Francisco. Until 1963, the island of Alcatraz operated as a federal prison. It has been featured in movies, TV shows, books, and even games. It is one of the city's most popular sights. Make sure you tour Alcatraz island. I enjoyed the tour of the prison where many movies and books were themed from. It is a great thing to do San Francisco. If you are interested in historic things to do San Franciso, San Francisco's cable cars have operated since the 1800's and are still in use today! They are a well known symbol of the city, and will be a fun mode of transportation to get to all the things to do San Francisco. This is an attraction that the whole family can share together. If you are interested, you can take a trip to the Napa Valley and visit wineries there. Napa Valley is north of the San Francisco Bay area. Many people choose wine tasting as one of the popular things to do San Francisco. If you have kids you can visit the Zoo, or find a museum. If you are a visitor, there are hotels near the many attractions and other things to do San Francisco with your family. For the best vacation ever, visit San Francisco today. I no longer live near San Francisco, but enjoy going back to visit as a tourist and enjoy with my family the fun things to do San Francisco. 360d1604310dd385ecac1d0f45c96ac3
