Most of us allow our mind a great deal of free rein. One minute we’re thinking about the car in front of us, and the next minute we’re thinking about work, TV, family, health and a million other things. The human mind tends to leap from topic to topic throughout the day, making countless plans and visualizing countless possibilities when pondering countless choices. "What to wear? What to eat? What to say?" The mind also turns back toward the past, re-living events from earlier in the day, the previous day, or even months or years in the past. According to A Course in Miracles, “Very few have realized what is actually entailed in picturing the past or in anticipating the future. The mind is actually blank when it does this, because it is not really thinking about anything.” If that statement is true, imagine how often your mind is blank! Imagine the joy of being focused so intently on this moment that you are free of the past, free of the future, and fully living in the Now. May you spend today focused on each present moment!
