Men are known as the stronger sex, less prone to falling sick and finding it easier to remain fit and fine. However, there are certain diseases and conditions that men are far more prone to suffer than women are. Some of the most common diseases affecting men are discussed here. There are certain diseases that affect mainly men. Thus, proper knowledge is must regarding the causes and effects of these and precautions to be taken accordingly. Three aspects are particularly important: 1 Proper diet rn2 Exercising rn3 Healthy lifestyle Prostate Cancer: One of the most common diseases affecting men is Prostate Cancer. It happens when the body cells begin to reproduce at an unnatural rate resulting into formation of tumour. This gets converted into cancer when the tumour enters the prostate gland in the male reproductive system. It has been found out that Prostate cancer rarely affects men below 40 and in more than 3/4th of the cases, men affected with the disease are of above 60. Definite symptoms have not been diagnosed yet, however, some can be like feeling of urination at late night, burning sensation while urinating etc. are some of the possible symptoms. The disease can be avoided by taking precautions from young age like staying fit through exercise, avoiding of junk foods, smoking, alcoholic drinks at high rate etc. Consumption of saturated fats increase chances of Prostate Cancer, thus, it is advisable to have healthy, nutritious food. Liver Cancer Another very common disease in men is liver cancer. This is because men tend to drink and smoke at a higher rate. This might also take place in women who drink and smoke at higher rate. Liver helps to fight infections and process nutrients. It also helps the blood to clot, thereby preventing excessive bleeding through small cuts and wounds. Because of content of large no. of cells and tissues of multiple functions, cancer tissues get spread all over the liver and multiply at a fast rate, causing liver damage. Hepatocellular carcinoma is a common type of liver cancer seen in adults is, which initiates in hepatocytes and 3 out of 4 cases of this cancer type is hepatocellular carcinoma. This disease, in most cases, originates in one part of the liver and takes different growth patterns & has the potential to spread to various other liver parts, and even other body parts. The best ways to cure liver cancer is surgery involving removal of the tumour or liver transplantation. Radiation therapy is another way of cure. Hypertension A significant number of men worldwide get affected by hypertension due to excessive job stress, lack of sleep, excess smoking/drinking or due to obesity, resulting into high level of cholesterol. The consequences are high blood pressure. Consumption of low fat diet is good for combating cholesterol. Also, to lower down the blood pressure, salt intake should be on the lower side. Other remedies involve avoiding alcohol, smoking etc. and regular physical workouts that would help to keep cholesterol level on the lower side. Thus, it is seen that most of the discussed men-diseases are basically the consequences of unhealthy and indiscipline lifestyle. Therefore, to have a healthy life, free of life threatening disease, one has to be careful about his lifestyle, food intake and workouts in particular that would facilitate freeness from abnormal body developments, resulting into such health problems.
