Some prescribed medications that will mostly influence ovulation are known as fertility drugs. These are considered as the most common treatment for couples facing infertility because the common causes of female infertility are ovulation difficulties. Typically fertility drugs are prescribed to women, however it can be used with men, but it is not that much common with them. With the increasing number of infertile couples, it is estimated that 10% of the population suffer the trauma of infertility today. Actually infertility issues are lot more common than people realize and if you are trying to conceive and thinking to look about infertility, you must have knowledge about this issue. Here is a quick rundown of some most effective fertility drugs your doctor is most likely to prescribe. 1. Clomiphene Citrate, commonly known as Clomid is the most common fertility medication prescribed by infertility specialists. It helps to release one or multiple eggs in a cycle as it leads your body to think estrogen levels are low that stimulate the production of follicle stimulating hormone that are essential for conception. As this medication will help release multiple eggs in a cycle, the chances of twins is highly increased. 2. Femara works in a same way as Clomid and even is not considered as a fertility drugs because its main function is to treat post menopausal women with breast cancer. It is considered as a second choice by experts when Clomid is not working. 3. Follicle Stimulating Hormone, commonly known as Folistim helps eggs mature and the medication is the synthetic version of the hormone. It can be recommended to help induce ovulation or to help stimulate the development of multiple eggs for IVF. 4. Heparin, commonly known as Hep- Lock is the injectable blood thinner lowers the miscarriage risk in women. 5. Bravelle, another FSH drug provides the FSH hormone and help cause the ovaries to produce eggs. It is usually used with the combination of another hormone for the growth and the release of a mature egg. Like Folistim, it is also an injectable and will also require close monitoring by your doctor. 6. Leuprolide, commonly known as Lupron, typically used in women undergoing IVF. This medication suppresses the FSH and LH hormones to keep a woman from releasing immature follicle and eggs. 7. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, also known as Pregnyl and Novarel helps stimulate egg maturation and release from the follicle. 8. Human Menopausal Gonadotropin, known as Pergonal and Menopur is an injectable combination of LH and FSH, designed to either induce ovulation in women who don’t ovulate. 9. Gonadotropin releasing hormone, known as Antagon used to trigger the production of more luteinizing hormone which cause the pituitary gland to temporarily shut down and therefore stops ovulation. Above all are some commonly prescribed fertility medications, but before using anyone of them, it is recommended to consult with your doctor because these fertility drugs have some possible side effects too. Consult your midwife or doctor and then continue with any of the above fertility drugs.
