I cannot remember exactly when I began to feel this way, but I know I was young. I have always been a feminist, from very early on as a child. I could feel how very wrong it was that men always seemed to have the upper hand. Things were out of balance. In my view, men and women were equal in every way. There was not even a need to think of it as “we are equal”, because to me it was obvious that we are simply human beings and there is no difference between us in the eyes of God. This imbalance was also reflected in the definition of God given to me by the Catholic Church I was raised in and by many in mainstream media. Many of us are told that God is “God the Father”, which obviously implies male and male only. It has been quite some time that the notion of God as only the Father has felt wrong to me. If we are made of a father and mother, why would God only be a father? Where is the mother? And because I had not yet heard of the Divine Feminine, I resorted to arguing that God was genderless. Why does God need a gender? “Why does God need a penis?” I consistently argued. I realise you may consider it blasphemous to talk about God in this way, but it still seems rather logical to me. Part of me continues to view God as genderless. It was not until a friend of mine sent me an email from a spiritual teacher named Patricia Cota-Robles that I began to understand things in a different way. She taught about God in a way that I had not yet heard, even though she is not the first and only person to teach this perspective. What comes next is a story that demonstrates how beautifully Spirit works in our lives. A few months later, after subscribing to Patricia’s newsletter myself, I learned that she would be coming to speak within a 4 hour drive of my home and that the talk would be free. I felt a nudge that I had to be there. The talk was to begin at 10:00 a.m. and ideally I would have booked at room for the night at the hotel she was speaking at. At the time, my financial situation was not good and I decided to wake up before 5:00 a.m. to drive out there and arrive on time. As I was going to bed the night before, I started to feel that it would be impossible to wake up that early and drive for that long. I was so unmotivated, I decided I would not turn on my alarm clock which I so desperately needed to wake up at that time. I told my angels that if I really needed to be there, they would have to wake me up at the exact right moment. This was an experiment I had not yet tried and I felt very clever for thinking of it. I went to sleep. When I woke up, I looked at the clock and saw that it was 4:44 a.m. Immediately I remembered my angel request and I shot out of bed with so much excitement! Not only had they awoken me on time, they had also done so at 4:44 which in angels numbers means the angels are with you. I felt so blessed and knew that listening to Patricia would become a pivotal moment in my spiritual development. As I listened to her speak, it all just made sense. I had never heard someone so eloquently speak of Father-Mother God. Everything she said seemed to be yet another piece fitting perfectly in my puzzle. It felt like home. I purchased several of her books that day, and there is one in particular that discusses Father-Mother God, who we are, the reason we are in the predicament we are in today and the earth’s current shift into the 5th dimension. In “Who Am I? Why Am I Here?” Patricia writes: “God is All That Is … This Divine Intelligence pulsates with a masculine polarity and feminine polarity. The masculine polarity is our Father God. This aspect of God radiates forth a sapphire blue frequency of Light that infuses all Creation with Divine Will, Power and Authority. The feminine polarity is our Mother God. This aspect of God radiates forth a crystalline pink frequency of Light that infuses all Creation with Divine Love, Adoration and Reverence for All Life. The activity of our Father God is the Outbreath of Creation. The activity of our Mother God is the Inbreath of Creation. When the sapphire blue Light of our Father God and the crystalline pink Light of our Mother God are perfectly balanced, they merge into an unfathomable Sacred Fire. This Divine Flame is known through all Creation as the Violet Flame of God’s Infinite Perfection”. (Cota-Robles, “Who Am I? Why Am I Here”, 31) I know why my angels sent me to hear Patricia speak. Her teachings have become the backbone of my spiritual belief. There are many terms she uses that are difficult to understand but the core is so true in my heart. When she refers to God she says Father-Mother God but I prefer to say Mother-Father God. With so much emphasis on God the Father all my life, it is time that Mother God takes the front seat. We all need to recognize and know the Divine Feminine. History may have buried Her, but she has been alive and vital all along. I am now comforted by my new balanced perception of God. I am secure in knowing that a part of my role here is to also teach about Her to others. May you be blessed by our Mother-Father God!
