Motor Vehicle Accidents Due To Teenage Drivers Resulting In Major Injuries And Deaths

It is generally acknowledged that teenage drivers are at high risk of being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Just about every day there are reports of even more accidents concerning teenage drivers. Many of these accidents have two or more teenagers in the car, have multiple victims, and involve a hurt or killrf pedestrian. Below we summarize recent accounts of three such accidents. In this publication a motor vehicle accident was described in which the driver was a 16 year old who has a junior license which permitted the teenager to drive up to 9:00 pm. The accident, though, took place on a weekday at a time later than 9:00 p.m. The reason why is unclear but somehow the driver lost control of the car. As a result the car hit another vehicle and then struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, was waiting at a bust stop when the accident happened, died from his injuries. The victim was a 65 year old man. The driver survived the accident with only minor injuries. He was arrested and charged with speeding, manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide.

This accident involved an eighteen year-old driver who was driving while intoxicated. The motor vehicle accident took place prior to dawn on a Sunday. Weekend evenings present the greatest risk for the occurrence of accidents involving drunk drivers. Based on the report the victim in this situation was struck as he was crossing a road. The victim was a 44 year old male. The force caused the pedestrian to suffer significant head injuries. The driver was arrested. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence.

Based on this report the driver was an 18 year old male. The accident happened in the morning hours on a Sunday. The accident occurred in a residential area. The accident occurred when the teenaged driver lost control of his car. The car spun violently before it flipped over, hit the victim and struck a large tree in front of the house. The man had just gotten out of his car to pick up a pamphlet from the front yard on a home which had a For Sale sign when he was struck by an out of control car. The 67 year old man was killed in the accident.

This motor vehicle accident involved a 19 year-old female driver also driving in a residential community. She left the scene of the accident after she hit a woman who was gardening in a flower bed in front of her own residence. The teenage driver hit the woman with such force that she hurled her almost 150 feet. The female victim ended up slamming against a truck that was parked in the driveway of her home. The driver did not stop. The driver was arrested close by roughly 30 minutes later as she was reportedly returning to the scene to take responsibility for the accident.

Every time I read a report of a new accident my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. These types of cases are true tragedies. Victims who survive the accident are often left with injuries that result in irreversible disabilities. In cases involving a death the family of the victim suffers the loss of a loved one. Even the life of the teen driver is permanently changed. Still, be it from speeding or from drunk driving these accidents continue to happen.
