Moving: Here are the basics

The time has come to plan your move. You have a lot to do. We are going to help you with the basics. This means everything from moving pods to acquiring the boxes necessary to pack your belongings. Moving should not be such a hard and overwhelming task. There are ways to do this frugally, even. First thing first: The biggest step is organizing your belongings. One great way to cut back is to actually purge. Go through everything that you have and see what is necessary and unnecessary. As we age, we tend to collect more and more. Some of it does not really matter much now and getting rid of it creates less of a need for expensive space. This means that you can rent less pods and moving trucks. Sell this at a yard sale or on eBay to add profits to your moving fund! Look at that, cutting back on costs and space usage already! If you do not feel like selling it, donate it all to charity! After you have gone through all of your belongings and purged yourself, there should be less to move. This makes it easier when it comes to finding out how many boxes and other moving accessories you are going to need. If you need boxes, there are plenty of places that have an excess of them and you can even get them for free. There is no need to really go paying for moving boxes this day and age. What else am I going to need accessory wise? There are items you are going to need to find so that you can pack your belongings well. You will need boxing tape and newspaper or bubble wrap for added padding and protection. I would wrap everything that is fragile in both bubble wrap and newspaper, especially if it is something you don't want to "accidentally lose". What about equipment? The types of equipment needed depend on how you want to handle your move. If you feel like you want to hire movers, they are going to have their own moving equipment. If you want to rent your own moving trucks and pods, this will allow for you to make sure that you and your helpers are the ones that are taking care of your valuables. You can even rent pods that you can have dropped off where ever you need it and also have it picked up when you are done. Is it moving day, yet?! Moving day is upon us and guess what?! It is not going to be such an overwhelming task! If you have a team built up of willing helpers, this day will go by so quickly that you'll be sitting and sipping some wine in your new living room before you know it. Moving pods, food, and able bodies always make for an easier move.
