My Annual Michigan Fishing Trip

Each year my family and I travel to the Upper Peninsula to fish. It has become a tradition that my children look forward to each year. With four boys it’s almost necessary that our vacations consist of fishing, outdoors, bugs, and fish. That’s why we head to Michigan Fishing; the beautiful scenery makes it worth all the preparation that goes into camping near the lake. My husband grew up fishing Lake Michigan. It’s where he learned how to fish, using varies techniques like anglers. It was something that he learned from his father, and loves to be able to share his love for Lake Michigan and its fishing. Many people don’t think of Michigan fishing first when thinking of a place to fish. Lake Michigan is home of many freshwater fish such as; walleye, trout and various others. These ones are just the favorite of my sons. Fishing Lake Michigan can be a lot of fun; mainly because, every day there is always somewhere different on the lakes to go. You aren’t stuck around a small little pond. You can stay on the shores or venture onto the Great Lakes. Each has its own benefits and depends on what fish you’re looking for or what fishing equipment you have. My favorite part of heading to Michigan fishing is the scenery. I am not much of a fisherman, I spend most of my time looking at the water and taking pictures. The fall has to be one of my favorite seasons; mainly because of the beautiful colors of the trees. The water is freezing, but if you can head up to the lake on a warm summer day, the water is adequate for swimming. I wouldn’t recommend ice fishing. That’s mainly because I’m a wimp and worry about the lake giving way. When we get tired of fishing Lake Michigan, and the water, it’s always fun to go on hikes and venture throughout the forest. There are so many trails we try to find new ones to go on each year. Many people might be afraid of Michigan fishing because they think that they’ll be missing out on the comforts of home. That’s not the case at all. There are a variety of charming places to stay. I love these placers because they have a homey feeling, but be aware that they do have stuffed Lake Trout as trophies hanging on the wall. If you have anyone in your family who is remotely interested in fishing Michigan fishing is the place to be. It provides comforts that everyone in the family can enjoy. Even those who aren’t big into fishing, once you go you will come to understand what their fetish for those ugly fishes on the wall. It’s to prove I caught a fish this big, and you don’t even have to exaggerate with your hands. It becomes proof, to show everyone who walks into your home what a great fisherman you are. My family stuffed the smallest walleye trout that I’ve caught as a joke, and gave it to me for Christmas. I though at the time I caught it that it would be much bigger.
