Having been born and bought up in central Edinburgh I’ve not really experienced open living, barns, cows or horses. I have a 2 year old son now and I would like him to be more in touch with nature as he grows up. Due to work and other commitments we cannot just get and leave Edinburgh but we do have a top level plan in place to ensure we can make that move within 5-6 years. My husband and I are not big spenders, we tend to hold onto our money and spend wisely, which has helped us purchase our city centre flat. Our mortgage is a repayment based option which means with every monthly payment our total mortgage amount owing comes down. We also have the option of overpaying so for the next few years we have decided to use all of my salary to top up the monthly mortgage payments and use my husband’s salary to live off. We are not committing to any more finances, not going on expensive holidays and definitely not spending on any large commodity. In 5 years time we intend to rent out our flat and move to the country, because our mortgage amount would have reduced we should have enough money left from the rental income to help pay for the country home. I will setup my online business selling hand made pots and vases and hopefully we will have enough land to grow some speciality vegetables to sell at market. My husband will sort out his current business so that he doesn’t have to be in the office everyday and work remotely from home, he has being checking out some Apache quads in Scotland, I think he believes that with all the land in the country he will be able to create himself a dirt track!

The Evolution of the Doorstep Handshake In the early days of the renewable energy boom, the transition to solar power was often viewed as a purely transactional event.
