Dealing with a breakup is no small task to do. Upon first being dumped, most people will tend to go a bit crazy for a while. I know I've had to experience all that myself. I've made phone calls and written e-mails that I wish I hadn't. This is obviously not the correct way to deal with a breakup. Instead of doing antics that push your ex away, try some of this advice that can actually help you.
Forget Revenge -- Don't do anything that really isn't in line with your true values. Don't try to humiliate him by posting bad things on his wall in Facebook, don't tell lies about him to his friends, and don't try to hook up with someone else to make him feel jealous. You don't really want to do this. You will only regret these actions later. Take some time and just don't contact your ex or have anything to do with him at all. This helps you have some time to see things from a more rational view. It is good to start practicing what your motives are before you do anything.
Discover What Happened -- Learn the lessons you can so you don't repeat the same mistakes. Is there something that you didn't bring to your partner? Perhaps you could have been more forthright about what you wanted from the relationship? Whether or not you get back together with your ex, you want to make sure that you don't bring the same problems with you into your next relationship.
Change Your Focus -- Keep your focus on other things especially when your breakup is fresh. It is not an easy thing to pull your focus away from the feelings of pain. Really though, you shouldn't be spending so much time thinking about . Go out with your friends to keep you focused on happy times and enjoying yourself. Or think about trying something new and building on some of your interests. This will help you keep depression at bay while broadening your horizons and building your self-confidence.
Learning to cope with a breakup is likely one of the most challenging things you will have to deal with in your life. Stay strong and don't fall into doing things that you'll only regret and will only drive your boyfriend away. Simultaneously stay active and spend time with your friends and do things that you like doing. Take this breakup as an opportunity to turn over a new leaf and start a better life. This is the best way to see a break up as an opportunity for something better.
