It’s not hard to get overwhelmed by housework, children’s needs, and everything else that has to be done in the life of a working mom. Before you know it, you are often so far behind that there doesn’t seem to be any way to catch up. Yet you still have to head out the door every morning to get to the job you really need. If your kids are in school, that might make things a little easier, but there is still the house that needs so much attention, the errands that have to be taken care of, and the meals that you would like to prepare, but often have to rely on good old take-out several times a week. No wonder you’re stressed! Not only is your personal life in disarray, but everything around you seems to be falling apart. Maybe it’s time to look for a little assistance, even if it is only a few times a week. Someone to come to your home, get it organized and back in order, prepare a few home cooked meals, and do some much needed cleaning. In other words, perhaps you need to hire a nanny to help bring a semblance of order to your life. You may not be in a position to hire a full-time nanny, but many times, she might be willing to split her time between you and another client. Often, all you need is a little help to make your life more manageable, and even a couple of days a week would make a ton of difference. Nannies to suit your needs are available for hire from a variety of different sources. For part-time help, look to your local college to see if anyone is interested in this type of work. Lots of college students are eager to make a little money and would be willing to help you out, or you can get in touch with a nanny placement agency for more information about potential employees. Don’t be so excited about getting assistance that you neglect the necessary things you must look for, however. You need to decide beforehand what you require from this person, what you are willing or able to pay, and whether she has any experience. You don’t want to make a bad situation worse by hiring someone who has little knowledge of what is expected. If you just need someone to come in and clean or organize, that’s quite simple. If you are needing a nanny to look after your kids as well, you definitely want someone with childcare experience. You know from doing it yourself that this is a big, very responsible job. If you can afford it, it might well be worth your while to look for a full-time nanny-someone who can be there on a day-to-day basis, from early morning, until you arrive home from work. She can spend the day doing all the chores you don’t seem to have the time for, run all your errands, look after any pets you may have, and be there to get the kids off to school and safely home after. In addition to taking care of the daily activities and tasks, your nanny will be the person responsible for the well-being of your children, should they be too young to be in school. In time, you will begin to depend on her to accomplish all you can’t get to, and she will become not just an employee, but a friend, as well as a vital part of your family life. She will keep them entertained, take them to various activities, make sure they are fed well-balanced meals, and see to it that they are safe and secure while they are in her care and under her watchful eye. She may, if you request it, prepare the food for your evening meal so that you only have to come home and sit down with your family and have a pleasant dinner. wouldn’t that be a wonderful? A qualified nanny can make your life so much better than what it used to be, you may want to keep her even after your family has grown and gone out on their own. In fact, many children who have their own families after they leave home “steal” their childhood nanny and make a place for her in their own home, thus continuing the relationship that they so enjoyed when they were growing up. It’s hard to relinquish an employee that, over the years, has become a cherished “family” member.
