Filled with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, fruits provide both the skin and the body with essential nutrients that are required to restore, develop and grow. In addition, these nutrients are coming from a direct source grown from the earth not like synthetic vitamins and minerals that are found in commercial products. Because natural skin care is so easy to make and use you can modify skin care recipes to fit your own skin care needs.
Natural skin care recipes normally contain the fruit pulp, fruit juice or in some cases both. To smooth out the concoction milk, honey or water maybe added as well. Depending upon what you are trying to treat additional ingredients may be added such as oatmeal, wheat germ, brown sugar, and dried herbs. These are made into facial cleansers, scrubs, moisturizing creams, facial masks, lotions and soaps. Each mixture is indicative for a specific skin type or ailment such as normal, dry, oily and sensitive skin, acne and pimple treatments, black head removers or whitening solutions.
Fruits contain a naturally occurring chemical compounds alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). They are well known for their use in skin care products, cosmetics, dermatologist’s offices, and health spas. Alpha hydroxy acids are well known for their anti aging effects such as reducing wrinkles, and enhancing the overall look and feel of skin. In skin care AHA’s help to peel away the top layer of dead skin cells. When you remove this top layer of skin it leaves you with a fresher, softer, smoother skin from underneath. Maltic acid, lactic acid, tartaric acid and citric acid are all forms of AHA’s, which can be used in natural skin, care remedies.
Matlic acid is found in apples, vinegar, applesauce and cider. Apple juice is an effective home remedy for reducing wrinkles, itching and inflammation. It can also be used as a skin conditioner, cleanser, and toner. Add a cup of apply juice the next time you take a bath to get the full body effect from apple juice. Lactic acid is found in buttermilk, yogurt, powdered skim milk, sour cream, blackberries and tomatoes. Tartaric acid is contained in grapes, grape juice, wine and cream of tartar. Citric acid is found in citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruits. Lemons are probably the most frequently used fruit for home skin care. Lemons cleanse, freshen, and lighten the skin. Lemons will soften rough patches of skin, deodorize smells and tone your scalp to prevent dandruff. Limejuice can also be a helpful skin aid. It can prevent acne, control oily skin, remove freckles, relieve tired eyes and reduce rough or dry skin. Orange juice is effect at reducing pimples and acne, white heads, acne scars, blemishes, boils and age spots. Mango leaves are known for their antiseptic properties. Pineapples will soften the skin and rejuvenate dry skin. Peach skin is a great anti-wrinkle cream. Apricot juice is helpful with sunburns, itching and eczema. Avocados and bananas are great for facial masks and can be used together.
