Bacterial vaginosis isn't just an annoying condition. It can actually cause permanent problems, if you aren't careful. So, you shouldn't just hope it goes away by itself because it won't. You also shouldn't have to put up with it coming back once it is supposedly cured, as it sometimes does when it is treated with antibiotics. What you should probably do is treat BV with natural remedies.

The biggest problem with treating BV using antibiotic medication is that BV is a bacterial infection. So, you might think that antibiotics, which are meant to kill bacteria, can treat it. However, antibiotics will also kill other bacteria. That's where the trouble comes in. Your body and especially your vagina needs certain healthy bacteria to be present because those bacteria protect it. That's why many people suffer BV relapses when they go with antibiotic treatment options.

Some Natural BV Treatment Options:

The other problem is that many people don't even realize that there are natural treatments for BV and its symptoms. They just assume that medical treatment is the only solution. The reality is that there are a lot of natural ways to fight BV.

Food To Avoid:

In fact, fixing some of the symptoms of BV might be as simple as changing your diet to restore your vagina's pH balance. The simplest thing to remember is that bad bacteria thrive on unhealthy food, especially sugary snacks. Also, eating too much salt can cause your body to retain a lot of water, which can aggravate certain BV symptoms, like stomach cramps. So, you really should avoid as many unhealthy foods as possible, especially if you have BV.

Tea:

Decaffeinated green tea can also help to alleviate some of the symptoms of BV. It has natural antibacterial and antiviral properties. You can even apply the steeped teabags to the outside of your vagina, if you want a quick and easy way to disinfect it and reduce both burning and itching sensations.

Another great tea to try is white willow bark tea. White willow bark is an all natural pain reliever, which has been a Native American herbal remedy for many years. If you're not a fan of drinking it as a tea, you can even find it in a supplement pill form.

Other Supplement Pill Components:

In fact, you can find a lot of great natural BV remedies in supplement pill form. Some of those things include vitamins and minerals, such as B vitamins, vitami
E and calcium. You can also get natural herbal supplements that contain antibacterial herbs, like Aloe Vera, as well as herbs that can fight the pains associated with BV, like evening primrose and black cohosh.

Keep It From Coming Back:

The best way to treat BV is to not just do things that will get rid of it, but to also do things that will keep it from coming back. For example, always keep your vaginal region as dry and clean as possible. Also, be sure to exercise, eat right, get enough rest and stay generally healthy. The more balanced and in shape you can keep your body, the less prone it should be to bacterial invasions of any sort, not just bacterial vaginosis.
