Understanding Natural Swimming Poolrn Natural swimming pool is a blend of a water garden and a swimming pool. Natural swimming pool has two parts, the swimming zone and the regeneration zone (separated by a wall). Natural swimming pools are purposely built with clean and clear water. The first natural swimming pool was created by DI Werner Gamerith of Austria in 1980’s. The first natural swimming pool was named Schwimmteich. On the other hand, the BioNova Company pioneered the first public natural swimming pool in 1990. Natural swimming pools are very popular in United Kingdom, Canada, Belgium and most places in Europe. How Natural Swimming Pool Worksrn Natural swimming pool has pumps that aid in water circulation through the regeneration zone back to the swimming area. The regeneration zone contains aquatic plants and rocks that act out as biological filters. Bacteria and other impurities are fed into plants’ roots, which in turn serve as plants’ nutrients. The types of plants in regeneration zone are oxygenators, floating plants, shallow marginal plants, waterslide plants, bog plants and marginal. Examples of these water plants are water lilies and duckweeds. The rocks are also colonized with beneficial bacteria that help in purifying the water. Because the water in natural swimming pool is chemical-free, it is soft and tender to the skin. The Maintenance of Natural Swimming Pools Utilizing the nature, natural swimming pools need at least 60 days for the whole system to stabilize; thus, waiting for the system to work functionally. Water of natural swimming pools is algae-free (or at least minimal) and clear. This is because of the plant-derived filtration system and nutrients in natural swimming pool are regulated in low level. To preserve the physical attractiveness and refinement of the pool, regular maintenance is needed. Dead leaves and plants must be removed from the water, and animals are strictly discouraged. Pool must not also be nutrient-overloaded to maintain the clarity of water. As far as water condition is concerned, natural swimming pool can be heated. However, most owners of natural ponds do not heat up their pools as natural swimming pool heats up easily, not to mention during sunny days. Natural swimming pools can be installed indoor. Additional considerations include maintaining high humidity environment and providing sufficient lightning for the plants. Existing ponds and traditional pools can be converted to natural swimming pools under certain conditions as well.
