Loss of sex drive in women is also called Hypoactive sexual desire disorder. This is common in many women and could be a temporary phase. The cause of this condition may be physical or mental since factors involving women's libido depends on many factors.

The loss of sex drive in women could be due to many reasons like aging factor, changes in hormones in the body, medical problems, certain medications or relationship issues. During pregnancy, post pregnancy and during menopause, the hormones of the body fluctuate causing this condition. Especially after menopause, low estrogen levels cause dryness of the vagina resulting in painful lovemaking. Certain medical problems like a thyroid disorder can result in loss of sex drive. Some kinds of anti depressants and oral contraceptives can have an impact on the sexual drive in women. Pressure of job or home work, stress, depression, fatigue and peer pressure too can be the reason for the low libido. Interpersonal relationship with the partner has a major role to play and the treatment for the loss of sex drive in women depends on the factor causing it.

Once the cause has been determined by getting a medical checkup or by seeking advice from a counselor, one can work towards the treatment for loss of sex drive. The kinds of treatments available in the market are as follows:

1. Estrogen therapy: Many kinds of vaginal creams and gels are available for application in the vagina. They release the estrogen hormone slowly from time to time thus preventing the dryness of the vagina. This lubrication and the blood flow to the sex organ enhance the libido.

2. Testosterone Therapy: Some kind of medications and oral contraceptives decrease the level of testosterone present. This can affect the sexual desire in a woman.

3. Sex Therapy: This kind of therapy can prove to be very useful for both the partners.

4. Medical Test: Medical tests can determine the medical issue causing the low drive and thus be treated.

Other than these, there are some natural treatments for loss of sex drive in women. These usually involve certain foods and some kinds of herbs which are safe to use. The treatments available are as follows:

1. Vitamin E: This is required by the body for the functioning of the sexual glands.

2. Onions/Garlic/Chives: Consumption of these pungent food help to produce the sex hormones.

3. Ginseng: This herb helps in overall body functioning and is an aphrodisiac.

4. Kava Kava: This helps in reducing anxiety and helps in treatment for loss of sex drive in women.

There are many herbs like Damiana and Muira Puama which are natural aphrodisiacs and can be taken for stimulating the sexual desire. Include oil, avocados, pumpkin seeds and nuts in your diet.

Communicate with your partner and strengthen the bond. Spend quality time with each other and indulge in romantic outings. Try various sexual positions in order to spice up your sex life and add foreplay. Take out time for yourself and pamper yourself by getting massages or just a relaxing bath with essential oils. This can take away the tiredness and make you feel rejuvenated. Exercise to remain fit and feel good about your body. This will boost your mood and eventually boost your libido.
