Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s most dreaded diseases dating back to the 19th century. By the early 1920’s TB affected almost 1 in 4 people but by the middle part of the 20th century, due to advances in medical science, it wasn’t even in the top 10 causes of death, especially with children. Now, with medical science at its highest peak with regards to research and health care, how is this disease faring today? According to a published report…In 2007 there were an estimated 13.7 million chronic active cases, 9.3 million new cases, and 1.8 million deaths, mostly in developing countries.

Today the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that more than two billion people, equal to one third of the world’s total population, are infected with TB bacilli, the microbes that cause TB. That means 1 in every 10 of those people will become sick with active TB in his or her lifetime. People living with HIV are at a much higher risk. However, according to a 2011 report, the numbers are starting to decrease; that is a very positive sign. The most important question on everyone’s mind though is…how can I protect myself?

What is tuberculosis? It is a chronic mycobacterial disease (the tubercle bacillus) that usually strikes the lungs. Disease that occurs shortly after infection is called primary tuberculosis. Except in infants, this infection is not generally serious. After this primary infection, the tubercle bacillus is rendered dormant by the patient’s immune system. Even after decades of being dormant, this germ can reactivate. Reactive tuberculosis is common and much more difficult to treat, especially because an increasing number of tuberculosis strains have grown resistant to most antibiotics.

What are the symptoms of tuberculosis? TB is very hard to distinguish from other disease but one common thing with all tuberculosis patients is that they have a cough. The airbo
e droplets expelled from the person coughing are not the issue. However, the droplet nuclei, the remaining remnants from the droplets, are the major concern. They can stay suspended in the air for an extended period of time; as long as they are protected from ultraviolet light they can live for decades.

What is the treatment of tuberculosis? There is a vaccine for TB called Bacille Calmette-Gurin (BCG). It is used in some countries to prevent severe forms of TB in children. However, BCG is not generally recommended in theUnited Statesbecause it has limited effectiveness for preventing TB overall. Health care providers can help by (1) quickly diagnosing cases, (2) following recommended treatment guidelines, (3) monitoring patients’ response to treatment, and (4) making sure therapy is completed. TB treatment usually combines several different antibiotic medications that are given for at least 6 months and sometimes for as long as 12 months.

Some serious side effects can come about by taking antibiotics for more than one year. Some of these include nausea, vomiting or dizziness, blurred vision, abdominal pain, ringing in the ears or even hearing loss, sore joints, numbness around the mouth, finger, or toes, lingering fever, jaundice, bleeding, and bruising.

Why would anyone want to possibly put their body through that misery in the first place when there is a more healthy way available? The best way to combat TB is by having high levels of glutathione (GSH) in your body which translates into a strong immune system. Since TB is an infectious disease caused by mycobacteria, GSH is anti-bacterial, produced by the body that optimizes immune function. So having high GSH levels can improve your chances of fighting off the deadly bacteria that cause TB.

The most effective, natural, and safest way to raise and sustain your level of GSH is by taking Immunocal. When taken daily, it will raise your body’s concentration of GSH. Even better, it’s a neutraceutical (it’s a food not a drug!) GSH is a molecule referred to as “Your Body’s Most Important Protector”. Most individuals have never heard of GSH; however, given the huge amount of research done on the subject and the large impact it will have on future health care, the term glutathione will shortly become part of our everyday language; the same way as we use the terms “antioxidant” or “cholesterol”. To date, there have been over 80,000 published articles on glutathione in the world of medical research and science. Why not try Immunocal today, it is one of the best natural treatments for tuberculosis.
