Melaleuca’s flagship product, is Melaleuca oil, more commonly known as ‘tea tree oil’. This substance is known to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties.
Tea tree oil can alleviate or eliminate a variety of uncomfortable and annoying conditions. Examples are: dandruff, head lice, dermatitis, athlete’s foot, cold sores, reduction of dental sores and bleeding gums.
Melaleuca’s product line includes nutritional supplements, healthy snacks, personal care items--like toothpaste, lotion, shampoos, deodorants, cosmetics and fragrances—and eco-friendly cleaning products for the home.
The compensation plan is a bit unusual, compared to most other network marketing companies. It is a 7-level, open ended matrix.
In researching the business opportunity itself, I found more disgruntled distributors than happy ones, mostly due to the pay plan. From what I could gather, most felt that it was more difficult to earn a good income here, than with other mlm opportunities they had experienced.
The products themselves are good and have many raving fans. So if one could set up a business model, solely based on huge volumes of retail sales, my guess is that it could work well. Remember thought, it looks like you will need lots of retail buyers AND business builders. Again, the feedback in various articles and forum postings is that the products are wonderful but the business opportunity is not the best one out there.
Cost to enroll: $29. If you like the products and will buy them anyway, there’s no harm in becoming a member.
Monthly autoship requirement: This is based on a point system, rather than dollars, and different products carry different values. You should have no trouble hiting the 35 point requirement for $75 or less.
Pros: In-demand products with excellent recurring retail customer potential; Low cost of entry at $29. The products also have a money-back guarantee, which helps with new customer acquisition.
Cons: That pesky compensation plan looks to be unpopular with current and former reps.
As always, do your due diligence. nnnnn
