Do you know what your most important sense is when you are a network marketer? Could be taste, could be touch, could be hearing but I believe it is your vision. Not in the sense of what you see with the physical eye, but what you can see with your minds’ eye. Everyone has heard 97% of network marketers make 10$ or less per week. That is right $10 dollars. Know anybody in this category? What can you do to make yourself one of the 3 per centers in this world of network marketing? Three things you must do define that “why”. Without a “why” you will not make it. Think about the “who” of your business and then think about “when” of your business. You must have these three well defined before during and after your business if you hope to have any success in network marketing.
You may have heard this many times from other network marketers as well as most any mildly successful person. If you are not sure about why you are doing something it is doomed to fail. If you are starting a ball team, school, or network marketing business you must first define the why. My experience and everything I read says that your why must be outside yourself. You can become successful only thinking about yourself, but it will not make you happy. As humans we have the capacity and willingness to give. My why is for a couple of groups from our society who really need the help of people who love them? Prisoners exiting prison, and teenagers who are exiting the foster care system. If I were able to fund two ministries to help these groups my why would be fulfilled. It certainly is a daunting task and there are more questions tha
I can even think of to answer. I will cross those bridges as I come to them. Now I know my who.
For me, I started my business to provide for three specific groups. They are the who of my network marketing business. I want to make enough money to support a ministry that helps men leaving prison and those people who are aging out of the foster care system. The statistics are staggering when you see how many of these people who are ending up in prison. I will give both of these groups a family. Prisoners will be served by our program and then at the right time they will be reunited with their families and the whole family will receive ministry. Those aging out of the foster care system will receive an adoptive family where they can always have a place and people to go to on holidays, when times are good, or when times are hard. I also will provide money for my own families needs. So many people would like to make a little extra money so that their families will not have to worry as they live their lives. Network marketing is a place that you can earn enough for your family and have plenty left over to serve other people in your why.
The last part of the equation is the when of your business. Nobody really knows much about when. My experience tells me that I am sure I do not know. That does not mea
I should stop planning or setting goals, it just means that those goals and the timing of those goals is subject to change. If you want to make a certain amount of money it is very powerful to set the time for that amount to be earned. Be specific, it will keep you accountable to yourself and to others. I like putting it on the refrigerator where everyone can see it and ask you about it. That little bit of embarrassment, if you do not make the goal, could be just what you need to move you to the next level. This is the hardest part for visionaries. They say things like “you can not rush creativity” or “Rome was not built in a day”. Those can be true if we are talking about unrealistic goals. Most of the time these are just an excuse for laziness. I should know I am the king of procrastination. So here is my goal for the ministries. By the year 2014 I plan to have net worth of 1,000,000 dollars and I also plan to have these ministries established. That means at least 2 people will be receiving ministry by December 31, 2014.
I know that this article seems very specific and maybe you don’t really care about my goals. I found as a teacher (17 years in high school science) that people could best identify when I could give them something real to relate to. What I hope most is that your “why”, “who”, and “when” can be clearly defined. When you can do this nothing can stop you from achieving your goals as a network marketer.
Discovering the “why”, “when”, and the “who”, of your network marketing business will make all the difference. We all reach a time when we think I will just go back to work and it is not meant for me to be wealthy. Applying these tactics will keep you going even when times are tough.
