People in the world should never take Castors for granted, but sometimes I believe we do. I was just moving an old washer the other day and the first thought that came to mind was that I really wished that it had a castor set of wheels because it was very heavy. To make things worse; the place I was moving the washer from did not have a moving dolly, also a castor recipient that would have made the process a lot easier. The castor is a luxury we cannot take for granted.

The castor has been around for generations and has vastly improved from the first leather and glass models of the 1870’s. However, from the first application of these tiny little wheels they have made a big impact on the process of moving very large items at home and in the workplace so much easier. This has led to better productivity and less back pains for sure. It is safe to say that those individuals who depend on some form of castor in their everyday life; do not take them for granted.

Today Castors are produced to be more durable and extremely effective at moving heavy pieces of equipment or various carts from one spot to another. You can find the castor on so many things the list would be nearly endless. There is such a wide selection of businesses that benefit from the use of the castor. Furthermore, the customers who visit that business reap in the benefits as well. For example, the home improvement retail outlets that is just about everywhere these days. I visited one recently and bought some bricks for a home improvement project. I was extremely pleased to see many flat supply carts equipped with the good old castor to push those heavy bricks to my car.

While in the home improvement store I could not help but notice that there were other items with the castor as well. They had movable ladders on the castor that could be pushed anywhere to get items that were stocked too high. There were pallet jacks that use the castor as well. The employees could slide them right under a pallet full of brick, cement, wood or whatever other product, and move them effortlessly to the proposed destination. Of course there were regular shopping carts with a set of castor wheels too. All of these things were increasing productivity and offering benefits to all.

Castors are definitely not something we should ever take for granted. They are often unseen and unnoticed, but they are always working for us in ways we may not always appreciate. The next time you are out and about; take a moment to look around and appreciate the ways in which a castor is working for you.

Yet behind every call that connects and every message that reaches its destination, there is another system quietly working in the background. That system is the call center.
