From the year 2011 UPSC has introduced a new pattern and syllabus for the UPSC civil service examination in order to recruit eligible candidates in the officer rank vacancies in different departments and ministries of the government of India. As per the latest UPSC syllabus the preliminary examination will consist two papers of objective type multiple choices questions and carries a maximum of four hundred and fifty marks. One of these papers is of general studies and previously the candidates were free to choose the other subject according to his or her own choice. But according to the new pattern adopted by the UPSC there will be no such options to choose new syllabus will be the same for everyone to bring more clarity to the UPSC result. These specific changes are made in order to enable a single marking system and moderation will be no longer required. This new pattern in UPSC syllabus is now termed as the Civil Service Aptitude Test or CSAT that is expected to help the country to find out eligible candidates with the right kind of aptitude and will also bring an end to the scaling system that has been so long in use and a matter of concern for the UPSC. In order to successfully crack the CSAT exam candidates are now required having a real extensive knowledge about the events and current affairs of both national and international importance. Following the suggestions of the Kothari Commission the UPSC has tried to enforce in a lot more clarity in UPSC result and has also introduced a number of changes in the final interview round or the personality test. This final round of selection aims at the proper assessment of the candidate as a compatible and suitable administrator. Candidates who have successfully passed through both the UPSC CSAT and the UPSC main are only considered for the personality test and the following tips may be of some help to face the toughest personal interview round of the country. • Candidates should have very good UPSC result in both the CSAT and the main exam. • Having a positive body language is the most important thing diring he final round interview. • Always try to ensure a right posture and good personal turnout. • Maintaining your calm and compose even in face of provocative questions may very well make all the difference. • Have a very good and detailed understanding of all the changes made in the new UPSC syllabus and pattern.
