What organs are essential for health? If you talk to a western doctor, they’d probably first tell you the heart or brain is the most important. In contrast, a Traditional Chinese Medical doctor would most likely assign this honor to the liver. An amazing organ, the liver . . . • Plays a key role in your energy metabolism. • Is the largest internal organ as well as the largest gland in the body. • Has the unique ability to regenerate itself. Within just a couple weeks, a small portion of the liver – as little as 25% - can grow an entirely new liver. And when it comes to detoxing, the liver is your body’s toxin removal headquarters. Without a healthy liver, it’s impossible for your body to get rid of toxins that are doing you harm! rnUsing a two-phase process, your liver breaks down toxins like alcohol, pollutants and drugs. It then repackages them so your body can safely and easily eliminate them from the body. So if you really want to keep your body clean and healthy from the inside out, taking care of your liver may be one of the best things you can do. And when it comes to taking care of your liver, new clinical research indicates chlorella may offer powerful nutritional support . . . New Research Shows Chlorella Supports Liver Health One of the enzymes the liver produces is alanine aminotransferase (ALT). When the liver is stressed, this enzyme level in the blood increases. Doctors test for this enzyme to determine your liver’s health. Lower numbers of this enzyme indicate your liver is doing pretty well. New clinical research indicates chlorella may help support healthy liver enzyme levels and thus liver health. rnIn a 2013 clinical study published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology, 13 participants took chlorella supplements over a 12-week period. rnThe patients were given the following amounts: • (3) 500 mg Sun Chlorella tablets 2X per day for the first week and then 3X per day for the remaining 11 weeks. • 30 ml Sun Chlorella Wakasa Gold 2X per day for the entire 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, 84.61% of the participants had a statistically significant decrease in their ALT liver enzyme levels. The control group of 26 had no change in ALT liver enzyme levels. In addition, 76.9% of the participants taking chlorella reported experiencing more energy and 53.9% reported a perception of better health overall. [1] Chlorella’s Detox Power While this clinical study is relatively small and still preliminary, it adds to our growing understanding of how chlorella helps you feel great. A buildup of toxins can make you feel tired and achy. Toxins can sabotage your immune system, your mood, your memory and even make it harder to lose weight. rnChlorella’s role in speeding toxins out of your body is perhaps one of its most distinctive health benefits. A number of studies have already shown chlorella helps your body get rid of heavy metals like nickel and cadmium as well as environmental pollutants like dioxin. • The fibers in chlorella’s cell wall bind with certain toxins and help your body remove them. In addition, these fibers help your body get rid of digestive waste. • Chlorella contains chlorophyll, “nature’s best cleanser”. Chlorella has the highest concentration of this green cleaner on the planet. But as this research indicates, it seems chlorella’s role in supporting your body’s cleaning system may go even further . . . By supporting the health of your liver, your body’s chief detoxifying organs, chlorella may play an even bigger role in helping you get rid of toxins. And because of the liver’s role in energy metabolism, this study also sheds light on chlorella’s revitalizing power. Keep Your Liver Healthy – Keep Your Whole Body Healthy While it’s taking some time for mainstream medicine to catch up, holistic health care practitioners have long emphasized the role toxins play in your health. If you can get rid of toxins effectively, your body can perform better. And when you’re body’s working at its best, you’ll feel unbeatable. That’s why this study is so important. No organ does as much to shepherd toxins out of your body as the liver. These days – with all the toxins we’re exposed to – your liver has a lot of work to do. As this research shows, the green algae, chlorella, may help your liver perform at its best. And as the study participants reported, when your liver works well you end up feeling more energized and healthier overall. Sources: [1] Azocar, J et al.
