New controls to prevention the spread of genital warts and other STDs in Canada

There are exciting things going on with British Columbia in Canada. There have been an additional public program created to help control sexually transmitted diseases. They have a new sort of electronic greeting system installed by inSPOT (Internet notification service for partners and tricks) where an anonymous mail gets delivered to people that have been asked by their partners to go for an STD test. They think that even an email address will be enough information to deliver mail requested by their partner.

Of all the known cases of sexually transmitted diseases, the types of STDs that have the largest number of cases are herpes and genital warts.

A lot of people don’t realize that there has been a similar service in place in San Francisco for the past seven years specifically to address the needs of the large gay community over there. Many believe that the online opportunities that are available now such as singles websites and social networking are triggering a rise in STDs and our society will need better controls to combat the growing number of infections transmitted through sexual means.

Dr. Mark Gilbert is an epidemiologist at the Canadian disease control center and has expressed enthusiasm for the new system and hopefully it will get some good traction.

It is unfortunate that people in our society require these types of measures. But with the invention of social networking, meeting new people has become easier then ever. People are changing their behaviors with the online temptations so easily as their disposal.

Meanwhile I believe that it is best to get be a bit older fashioned when it comes to how you create new relationships. It’s ok to take things slow and to begin to really know someone and trust them before getting intimate. Lots of quick encounters are not healthy for an individual mental health let alone their physical health. Of course it can be argued that people will do this type of thing anyway so there need to have better controls in place.

So I am glad that these controls are being put in place. Perhaps it will encourage people to be more open and take care of themselves to not spread the disease and hurt people for what may be a permanent chronic condition.

I would like to encourage all readers to be who they are but be honest with what conditions you may have. Prevention is so much better then treatment and there is more to be gained by spreading the love without spreading the sicknesses that can causes serious issues for us when they become wide spread.

So what will help? Is it the government’s place to help push people into being honest with each other? I often wonder if more education is needed or if it’s our tenancy as modern day people to expect that anything we want can be received immediately without giving much conce
with who is on the other side of the deal. Best things in life are not immediate, but with the Internet, DVRs and technology like Google, it seems like anything we want in life can be received immediately. Of course that is not how the real world works. Good things in life take time and I hope that we as a society will begin to realize this more so we can all succeed together a little bit better.
