Offering health insurances for the workers is morally very important for the employer. Under the federal health care laws, the employers of any organization, with more than 50 employees working are bound to provide either a health coverage or pay a penalty, a law which has been summed up as “pay or play” policy. The health law turns out to be extremely beneficial for the workers as they can now get better health coverage through the state health exchanges, while it might be expensive to maintain on the part of the employer. The strategy of the employers of large farm: With the decision of the US Supreme Court, in June the employers across the country will kick start the “pay or play” strategy. Many of the firms and organizations with more than 4,000 employees are waiting for the final decision of the Supreme Court before developing a policy. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, 2010 was formulated with a goal of cutting down the figures of people without the health insurances. In 2011, it was found that there were about 486,000 people in Minnesota lacking the health insurance policy. Thus, the state aimed at reducing the number by more than even 50%. It is expected that some of the people will move into the health insurance policies offered by the employer, while the others are expected to move out of the employee health insurance plans. The April analysis of Minnesota Department of Commerce states that about 75,000 people of Minnesota might be dropped out from the health insurance policies sponsored by the employers within 2016. It also states that about 140,000 people might leave the employer sponsored health policies to join the sate federal Medicaid program designated for the lesser income households, or the state health exchanges. Penalty taxes to be set up by 2014: The individual incentives to reduce tax can be more powerful tool to save money by dropping medical coverage and paying lesser expensive penalty. The penalties for lacking health coverage will be set up by 2014, and by 2016, people without health insurance policies will pay a penalty tax which will be higher of either 2.5% of the entire household income or about 695$ each year, up to a maximum three times of that amount each family, about $2,085. The scenario is however very different, in case of the small firms and organizations with less than 50 employees. They are not subjected to the pay or play penalty, and hence many of them will not even have any financial incentives or allowances. Quarter
