Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) valuation department employees have been working overtime to prepare the updated list of major tax defaulters as well. The civic body has set a target of collecting Rs. 500 Crore from the waiver scheme. As Governor Mr. M K Narayanan had earlier cleared the proposal for the scheme mooted by the civic body. KMC is now waiting for the state government’s nod for an official declaration of the waiver. As they need this money to fund some major civic projects on water supply, drainage and sewerage and garbage disposals as said by the official of KMC valuation department.
