As far as the ski season goes, the New Year ski holidays has to be the most popular of them all with availability snapped up months before departure day! Great for ski operators’ perspective, but what it is about the ski New Year break that means year after year its demand far exceeds availability? It is not a simple answer in all honesty and we don’t intend to get too scientific with our answer here! If we did it would probably be a thesis as the popularity of the New Year ski holidays is probably down to multiple reasons, some complicated other far to boring to Share! Rather therefore than go all Steve Hawking’s on you, we thought we would take a more flippant view. For the majority of the US and UK population, the Christmas and New Year celebrations are very important events on the annual calendar, so much so that households start talking and planning the event months in advance. Despite the planning, and its time to be brutally honest here, the same celebrations and dinners occur with the same family friends. Please don’t tell my mother, but it can get a little stale after a while? Yes Aunt Mable latest purple rinse does look interesting, but cold turkey and cheap sherry soon loses its appeal once you are no longer a teenager! How many times have you thought that next year you could go away at Christmas? Yes Christmas seems to come up first, that is of course until everyone realises that there is Grandma to think about - not to mention her will! Christmas having been ruled out of the equation, people then turn quickly to the New Year ski holidays. It is however of course an expensive week, but by the third consecutive day of stuffed turkey and four walls you are now going stir crazy, you just know its worth it! But this sudden dawning surely still doesn’t explain such a high demand for New Year ski holidays, surely? No, but the fact that people come back year after year does! Each year more and more people see the light of the ski New Year getaway, but more importantly those that have already been previously, rarely ever let go of the action! Once hooked, there is no getting off the line! The New Year ski resorts have a fantastic atmosphere. Not just the festive lights, the music, or the New year ski events, but the visitors that pour in. It never ceases to amaze us how on some of the other ski week’s that some visitors manage, whilst on holiday, to make being unhappy a professional occupation? Not this week however, yes I am sure the fact that a copious amounts of mulled wine are consumed during the ski New Year celebrations helps, but it’s more than that. New Years ski week’s visitors must be just injected with happy juice on arrival. Or perhaps it’s just the fact the sheer expense focuses the mind on getting the most out of their New Year ski break? Or more likely the case, they are that this weeks visitors are people who just know how to have a good time! Whatever it is it works, so come and join the ski New Year party!
