News Update: Alfa Chemistry Starts to Provide Wide Choices of Biomedical Polymers

Biomedical polymers have broad applications in the medical world, such as in tissue and blood interacting medical devices and drug delivery systems. Keeping a close watch on the market trend, earlier this month Alfa Chemistry announced that it would start to supply about 100 biomedical polymers. Over the last few years, functional polymers have become another major supply of this company. Via the previous release of multiple polymer products, now the company is capable of providing adsorptive polymers, biomedical polymers, electrofunctional polymers, functional PEGs, etc. Polymers are attractive biomaterials and are rapidly replacing other classes of biomaterials such as ceramics or metals in research and clinical application scenarios. “Owing to their good biocompatibility, excellent ductility and flexibility, low cost, and ease of fabrication, biomedical polymers are routinely being used for biomedical applications ranging from surgical sutures to tissue engineering scaffolds, medical implants, and drug-eluting devices,” says the Marketing Chief of Alfa Chemistry. The last decade has seen the exponential growth of biomedical polymers in the research community. Scientists are attempting to formulate novel functional materials that have desirable physical, chemical, biological, biomechanical and degradation properties and thus can meet specific targeted biomedical requirements.
