In earlier times, when the idea for Hosted PBX system was not even thought for, the calls rates were so high that people thought twice before actually calling someone. This was the picture of 18th century. In 1886, The New York Times published: “The greedy and extortionate nature of the telephone monopoly is notorious. Controlling a means of communication which has now become indispensable to the business and social life of the country, the company takes advantage of the public's need to force from it every year an extortionate tribute.”rnAs per various historical sources, early users did not appreciate the unfair billing system portrayed by large-scale telephony companies. They considered it as a clever strategy of the large business tycoons owning telephone giants. Thus, metered billing was the cause of people in 18 century. Since then the people had been enduring the high cost calls.rnWith the traditional telephony systems, most of the consumers were charged a fixed call cost per minute within a given region. Some of these regions spanned only a few square miles. As the call distance grew, the cost of the call grew along. The customers who wanted to reach someone beyond that access region paid an extra fee called a toll.rnMany phone companies came up with services that excelled in providing businesses with a diverse range of calling features but made it difficult to combine those features without increasing the cost of the calling plan significantly. Whereas, the others offered basic services at a low cost but were unable to grow with the business's need for enhanced calling features. It gave a cold shoulder to the new users.rnBut some day it had to end. Then came the 21st century that carried forward the journey of digital revolution triggered in 1980’s and resulted in the creation of internet, www and ultimately the telecommunication based on IP protocol i.e. IP telephony. IP telephony added along a switching station i.e. PBX and resultant was termed as IP PBX or PBX VOIP. This solution put an end to the grievances of high costs incurred in usage of PSTN phones.rnThese systems offer best services in lowest possible prices. Not only this, for the small companies who aimed high but were facing the difficulty in buying the costly hardware and technical support were benefitted a lot by a close sibling of PBX VOIP i.e. a Hosted PBX system which is a managed version of it. The customer subscribes for a fixed service plan which includes all the details about number of users and features available in that plan. All the hassles including installation, upgrades and service monitoring are offered by the service provider. Moreover, all the cross-country calls that a subscriber made in a single network were treated as local.rnThereafter, research and developments further lead to the addition of many sophisticated business telephony features that have actually upgraded the level of business communications. Unified communications that lets you access all your real time and non-real time data during a call has further increased its acceptance among businesses. rnThus, a Hosted PBX Systems can rev-up your business phone experience in a small investment that is a far-sighted one. It is all what you can imagine a telephony service offering you.
