New Okhla Industrial Development Area, known as NOIDA. This is how the name goes, but in the present scenario Noida manufacturing clusters make up a fraction of the city’s huge landscape. Starting as an industrial hub in 1976, Noida catered to Delhi’s commercial needs and addressed its concern over polluting industries, this township on the capital’s eastern edge has since transformed into one of India’s best-planned modern cities. If the 1980s and early 1990s saw an influx of retirees and small businesses, the last 15 years witnessed the city turn into a favored destination for the upwardly-mobile middle class as global companies and the country’s booming outsourcing industry set up operations here.
The demographic shifts made various sweeping changes to the educational landscape of Noida. The first schools that dipped into the pool of education institution in Noida were Apeejay, Cambridge in the year 1981 and Delhi Public School in 1982. In 1990 the rising real estate prices made Delhi residents look for low-cost housing. Noida became a natural choice because of its proximity and thereafter a second wave of schools followed. The ones leading the pack were Amity International, Somerville and Vishwa Bharati.
Good teachers, sprawling complexes, and sporting and recreational facilities made Noida schools stand out. By the new millennium, expectations of the residents increased. Many of them were highly educated, working with MNCs and were willing to spend liberally on their child’s education. Then came schools such as Lotus Valley, Kothari International and Step By Step, with five star facilities such as air-conditioned classrooms, high-tech infrastructure and, in some cases, an optional international curriculum. In the high-end category, the latest entrants include Pathways, Genesis Global and Shriram Millennium stepped into the pool.In the late eighties, the Noida authorities thought of attracting Noida schools by providing free land.
Looking at the potential of the areas, schools soon began vying for plots in Noida. The Authority cashed in on the demand and several schemes were started to manage the demand. Best schools in Noida mirror the aspirations of its wealthier residents. Schools in Noida attract many parents who want to get their child admitted in best schools of Noida.
