Now's a good time to take the MMR jab

Like most parents we agonized over whether we should give our child the joint MMR Vaccine. We'd heard different stories about the MMR jab linking it to cases of autism but our GP was adamant it was safe. She said her children had been given the MMR jab and was perfectly satisfied there were no health concerns. That's little comfort though when you are weighing up the pros and cons of the MMR vaccination, the big question was should we go ahead with the jab? In the end we did opt to have the MMR jab at a private clinic that specialised in child immunisation. They boasted a healthy track record for the MMR single jab vaccine with a 100% safety record. Which clinic did we use for the MMR Vaccine? We took our daughter to the Child Immunisation Centre in our local city centre. They operate various clinics throughout the whole of the UK and provide the single jab MMR vaccine to safeguard against measles, mumps and rubella. Obviously we checked out the credentials of this centre before we arranged to have the MMR vaccine. It wasn't an easy decision to be honest but the pros of the MMR vaccine definitely outweighed the cons of the jab in our opinion. The clinic we visited had no cases of autism reported since they opened their doors over 10 years ago and had completed over 18,000 MMR jabs in that time. Why are people worried about the MMR Vaccine? Obviously the main cause of concern for MMR is the possibly side effects of the vaccine. Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s controversy about the side effects of the MMR vaccine began to gather momentum in the public relating it to autism. However the controversy at the time was never supported and most medical experts agreed that the MMR vaccine was safe. We took the steps to vaccinate our child with the MMR jab because there's been a rise in reported incidents of measles in the UK. People don't understand how serious it can be for a child to contract measles and with cases almost doubling this year alone we decided that MMR was the sensible option to take.
