In the U.S., 22 million Americans visit a chiropractor every year. 35% of this figure goes to the chiropractor due to their back pain. Back pain can also be caused by an accident, sports injury or muscle spasm. When a person has back pain, pain in the neck, legs and arms and can felt. Headaches can also be due to back pain.
Why do people choose to go for chiropractic treatment for numbing back pain? Chiropractic is a natural treatment for back pain. It does not prescribe any medication. Chiropractic relies on the principle of the body’s self-healing. Hands-on spinal manipulations are done to re-align the spinal column, which aids in the promotion of overall health of a person. If the spine is aligned, the body can heal itself faster. The goal of spinal manipulation is to restore the mobility in the spinal joints and tissues, which were restricted because of an injury or accident.
For people who experiences numbing back pain, going to the chiropractor does not mean that you can immediately get your treatment already. Chiropractors need to make sure that you are a good candidate for chiropractic treatment. During your initial consultation, the chiropractor will take your medical history and perform physical examinations. Lab tests and x-rays will be performed too. Once the results are in, the chiropractor will diagnose your condition and provide a treatment plan for you. The chiropractic treatment will involve spinal adjustments and other treatment methods like massage therapy. Chiropractors put a sudden and gentle force when doing spinal manipulations.
Chiropractic care has been proven very effective in relieving someone of numbing back pain. Aside from its success, there are other reasons why people with back pain choose this method of treatment. For one, a natural treatment equates to a safe treatment. Another reason is that a chiropractor will not only help relieve the pain but will provide a holistic approach in treating you. This means that exercises and diet plans may be given for you to become healthier.
Not all people with back pain can be treated by chiropractic care. Acute back pain can be relieved using chiropractic treatment. Acute back pain can be obtained from minor injuries and it will only last up to 6 weeks. Any back injury that lasts further than this is more serious and may need surgical attention already. Do not worry. A chiropractor will not let you undergo treatment if he knows that surgery is what you need.
Since back pain can lead to a number of symptoms too, it will be best to get your back pain treated already. Only get treatment from a licensed and certified chiropractor.
