So much of our health and well being is directly linked to the nutrition that we eat. If we eat right and take care of ourselves then we stand a greater chance of living longer, healthier lives. This article will show you ways that you can start implementing better nutrition into your diet.

Don't avoid avocados because you think they will make you fat! In addition to providing fiber and unsaturated fats, avocados are rich in lipase (an enzyme that is essential for the proper breakdown of fats). Lipase allows the body to convert fats from food so that they can be properly absorbed by your intestines.

Don't let the latest fads convince you that you are doing things wrong. The fads change as quickly as the wind and as long as you follow the basic proven aspects of nutrition you will be living a better, healthier life. That fad will be over before too long anyway.

Liven up your homemade omelet, by including fresh or frozen vegetables. Omelets have an irresistible attraction when they contain fresh or frozen vegetables. Vegetables add interest, as well as, texture, color, flavor and vital nutrients. Just slice some up, saute and then add them to the omelet just before you flip and close it up.

Keep your snacks under 150 calories. Snacks can become like meals if you eat too much. Make sure you aren't just eating because you are bored or stressed. Look for healthy snacks before you look for junk food or candy bars. If a healthy snack isn't appealing then you probably aren't hungry.

Vitamin E is an important part of a healthy diet. It acts as an antioxidant, ridding the body of free radicals that have the ability to damage your cells and help to cause cancer and cardiovascular disease. Immune function and DNA repair are also helped by Vitamin E. You can get Vitamin E in vegetables oils, fortified cereals, nuts, beans, whole grains and leafy green vegetables.

Make sure you're eating a balanced meal. 15-20% should be protein, 30% should be fats, and 50-55% should be carbs. This ensures that your body is getting everything it needs to function properly. Any diets that have high amounts or extremely low amounts of the nutrients deprive your body of what it needs.

To boost your energy in a nutritious way, eat foods high in magnesium. Magnesium helps your body make a substance called adenosine triphosphate, which significantly increases your energy levels. A wide variety of foods contain magnesium, including cashews, yogurt, and spinach. If you have a sweet tooth, the cocoa powder used in making dark chocolate is another excellent source of this nutrient.

Getting the results that you want from eating right and getting lots of good things in your body, will take some time. The effects of our bad food choices will take some time to correct. But if you follow these tips and start eating better today, it won't be too long before you start to feel and look better.
