It's hard for me to believe, but April 1, 2009 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of my grandmother, Elizabeth Rose von Hohen is! When you think about 100 years to go, especially in the last 100 years, it's amazing to think about the changes she witnessed. As a child Elizabeth to take the reins of the carriage and walk down a long narrow street to the road to the farm where the milk is collected for his family. She was proud of the responsibility given to such a young age. As the eldest son of the family, Elizabeth's responsibilities include cooking and baking as well. Imagine that the average age of nine now cooking for your family! Ten years later, I am very proud to have had a wonderful grandmother, and even more proud to have the opportunity to share their recipes with you! I am very pleased to include two healthy recipes in this article have been in our family for over 100 years. Both recipes are the basic ingredients and simple instructions. Hungarian Peasant and food are oatmeal cookies, which were brought from the old continent for my great-grandmother, Anna. The Hungarian peasant food is a dish that was not aware until we started designing our cookbook family. My mother told me that was a staple for his family in 1930 and 1940 because it was cheap. She said she has vivid memories of my grandfather put a large piece of butter boiled red potatoes. Then, break a piece of potato and take a spoonful of cottage cheese mixture and pop in your mouth! Delicious! This is so delicious ~ just try it! It's fast and very easy to do. In fact, this is the perfect recipe for a beginner to try. Hungarian peasant meal rnOne thing that was a lot of times for dinner was the food. My mother told us that in the old country called popes "Hendler Feld," Field chickens, as it took the place of meat. Boil 6-12 new medium red potatoes in their jackets in salted water for about half an hour or until soft. They are done when a fork easily goes into the potato. Mix 1 pound of cheese with a little salt, pepper and paprika. Add a tablespoon of sour cream and ½ cup chopped scallions. Stir together cottage cheese mixture and sprinkle with paprika. Serve the potatoes in their jackets. We just peel on our plates, sprinkle with salt and pepper and a piece of butter. Serve two or three heaping tablespoons of cottage cheese mixture. Delicious! Oatmeal Cookies rn1 cup white sugar rn1 cup brown sugar rn2 eggs rn3 cups oatmeal rn1 cup butter rn1 cup flourrn1 teaspoon baking soda ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans ½ cup raisins ½ cup coconut Beat sugar, butter and eggs until light and fluffy. Add flour, oats and baking soda. Add nuts, raisins and coconut. Mix well. Drop a teaspoon in a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees. This recipe has a large batch of cookies. They are so delicious that you will find eating a handful at a time!
